Rob Picazo
As a half-English-half-Spanish singer, guitarist and songwriter, I’ve found a home in Southern American music, specifically the Blues, Soul and R&B sounds of the 50s and 60s. Heroes and influences such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Solomon Burke, Bobby Bland, and too many more to mention, have pushed me to write and perform the kind of music I love. Combining soulful vocals, relatable lyrics and bluesy melodies, I have played throughout the UK, meeting and supporting some fantastic artists. With this project, I hope to make the same impact they have made on the British Blues scene.
What To Expect From This Project
12 original tracks of Blues, Southern Soul and classic R&B with myself on guitar and vocals and backed by the brilliant Harry Whitty quartet (which will be expanded into a quintet for these sessions). Additionally, we are fortunate enough to have an extremely talented producer, Al Brockman, who, having controlled the sound at many of my gigs, has a deep understanding of my music. The album will be recorded live with analogue equipment, aiming for a brand of energetic and fresh Rhythm & Blues to get toes tapping and hearts pumping.
Why Do I Need Your Help?
Being a self-published effort, I need as much help as I can get. The flexible goal of £3000 will cover musician, recording and design fees, as well as production and potential distribution costs. I will be putting in as much of my own money as possible, but will need help from fellow music-loving backers to get this project off the ground.
Risks & Challenges
Your support will push me even further with this project, as I will aim to reward anyone who backs me with a highly enjoyable musical experience. Furthermore, this album not only serves as a representation of my music, but as a showcase of the talent of the Harry Whitty Quartet.
Other Ways You Can Help
Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated; whether it’s a financial contribution, or getting the word out.
Thank you very much from everyone involved in this project!
