Our Story
Rachel and I are Acupuncture physicians. We started looking for a device that we could give to patients as a way for them alert us when they needed help. We found that the devices that already exist had limitations that we weren’t willing to deal with: poor range, noisy, expensive, complicated etc. As huge believers in simplicity we knew that there could be a better way. The wheels began to turn and soon the concept for the Room8 button was born.
The Button
Our concept was simple - a device that when activated sends an alert to mobile devices via WiFi without the need for extra hardware, software or subscriptions. We took this concept to Jaycon Systems and in a matter of weeks they delivered our working prototype!
The App
The Room8 can work with mobile devices and computers without an app but we decided that the app would enhance the user experience. The app acts as the user interface where the button can be configured, customized and even controlled. Other useful features such as: a treatment timer to keep track of multiple patient treatments at a time and a location feature for locating misplaced buttons will be incorporated into the app as well.
What We Need
At this point the Room8 is a working prototype, is patent pending and trademarked. We have a manufacturer and an app developer and our goal is to get funded so we can get a first round of buttons out. Our backers will be the first to get their hands on the buttons and the app. We will begin taking orders for subsequent button batches after our first batch runs out. There is much more that needs to happen before and after we get there but here is what we need to get started:
If we do not meet our funding goal our objective is to find the means to deliver the perks/rewards promised to our backers regardless!
