HUGE NEWS!!!
With several days still to go, we reached the $12,500 goal! We are humbled by the 100+ folks who have given to the campaign. Special thanks to Neelesh Patel for helping us achieve this milestone.
Instead of ending the campaign, we are establishing a new stretch milestone we'd like to reach: $16,000. Why? With more money, we can make the album and launch even better, more musical, and more of a reflection of our highest creative intentions. Here is what we'd like to do with the extra support:
Recording additional artists based in India and globally (sarangi, sitar, bansuri): $1,500
Vinyl production costs (mix, manufacture, and design): $1,000
Album launch party production (venue rental, AV, and documentation): $1,000

We are Sadubas, aka "The Sadhus of Bass"-- Ameet Mehta and Robin Sukhadia – childhood friends who have been making music and playing live with tabla, beat machines, and Golden Era Bollywood samples since 1999.
For the first time in our musical journey, we will record a full-length album with live musicians in a professional studio overseen by Producer Bardo Martinez (lead singer for Chicano Batman) – and we need your help to make it happen!

Over 35 years ago in North Carolina, our unique bond was formed over a Commodore 64, a shared love of cinema, and our parents’ record collections, which primarily consisted of Bollywood classics, ragas, and devotional music.
Sadubas has always been a place of play for us, where we break rules musically and remix all the things that influence us. We love to improvise and perform live because it’s where we get to really stretch our imaginations. Performances at LACMA (the Los Angeles County Museum of Art), the Machine Project, Eagle Rock Center for the Arts, Culver City Art Walk, the Bowers Museum, and the Craft and Folk Art Museum always feature Ableton, live synths, and tabla - accompanied by live musicians on bansuri, trumpet, sitar, and more. No two shows are the same and we feature visual projections of our travels to India to deepen the Sadubas storytelling experience. We always aim to mesmerize our audiences while feeling the groove.

Over the past few years, we made a goal to record, publish and share more of our music. We are proud to say that we have now released three tracks, now on all streaming platforms. The music caught the ear of our dear friend and mentor Bardo Martinez. He encouraged us to think bigger, and offered to serve as the Producer for this project to help escalate our sound and production. The album is going to be beautiful: it will feature Indian classical instruments (tabla, sitar, and bansuri) alongside fresh disco and house rhythms created by live bass, synthesizers, drums, guitar, and 808s, while mirroring samples from the golden era of Bollywood. You will love this album because it will radiate that magic of 70s and 80s Bollywood and disco, while being firmly grounded in the hip hop, house, and electronic sensibilities of today.
What We Need & What You Get
We need a total of $12,500 to produce and complete the album.
Here is where the money will go:
- $5,000 Studio Costs & Producer
- $3,000 Artist Fees
- $2,500 Mixing
- $1,000 Mastering
- $500 Design and Equipment
- $500 Documentation

The Impact
From July 13, 2023 thru July 15, 2023, we are scheduled to record with musicians in the studio. We are beyond excited about this special moment, which will be right in the midst of our campaign. We plan to share exciting behind the scenes updates about our plans in the studio, the recording period itself, and the post-production process with our supporters and fans.
In so many ways, this album is about friendship and our shared love for disco, raga, electronica, and house. But it is also about sharing a truly unique sound that fills a hole in the music sphere. Our new tracks will give deep respect to Asian Massive, low-fi, dnb, and disco while integrating Indian classical music (tabla and instrumental) – making this album a goto standard for your early evening pre-game, your end of night comedown, your psychedelic sunday afternoon drive, the coolest wedding sangeet, your futuristic cocktail party, your road trip across the desert west, your train ride from Kolkata to Delhi, and your chance to reconnect with the music your parents loved which shaped your own tastes. Think Kruder & Dorfmeister meets Anand and Kalyanji; Mumbai sunsets meet Joshua Tree expansiveness. The Bee Gees meet RD Burman. The War on Drugs meet Talvin Singh.
“These guys are amazing. Diplo is sleeping. They are next level rock stars. The vibe is there. The energy is there. The artistry is on point. They have everything. It’s just a matter of catching lightning in a bottle. They got lightning. They got the fire. It’s just a matter of getting it on tape, getting it recorded.” - Bardo
