Short Summary
Short Summary
“Salt-Sea Pirate - The Golden Age (A Musical
Consideration)” is an adventure into the spiritual essence of old-time pirates,
using the actual music, songs and stories of their time, in their own
words. Over three hundred years ago the basic premise of human history
began to shift and change into what is now often referred to as “The Modern
Age”. As Philosophy, Science, and worldwide commerce blossomed, so too did
the economic foundations of capitalism and modern nations. This was the Age of
Enlightenment. However, this same great movement also fostered a growing
awarness of dispair among the common folk. They were being left behind. If you
weren't high born or rich you didn't have a chance. For one brief, “golden”
moment, right around 1700, everything came together for a relatively small band
of truly eccentric, egalitarian. and arguably somewhat crazy, world cruising
motley bunch of sea rovers. In their minds they waged war against a
brutal and unjust world. Even for the lowest of the low there was a place where
their worth was based on merit and not birth. This place of freedom was
under the Black Flag. Our unique perspective on this popular but often
misunderstood subject, is forthright, irreverent, ribald, often astonishing,
and sometimes movingly beautiful. It’s a lot more than a “Yo ho ho and a
bottle of rum!”
The American Troubadour Project, Inc.
(ATP), is a 501 (c)(3) dedicated to preserving American History through
story, song, legend and lore. The show's creator, Bill Schustik, is an
American Troubadour who has spent a life time traveling the highways and byways
of this land of ours, sharing his deep abiding love of history and his powerful
gift of music with his fellow countrymen in hundreds of concert halls and
gatherings. Throughout his dedicated career he has sung for three U.S.
Presidents, appeared both on and off Broadway, created countless musical
productions of his own, some of which ended up in venues that include Ford’s
Theater and Lincoln Center. He authored two ballets. And he still loves
to inspire students young and old through captivating programs and school
performances.
The show will be staged for the
camera and recorded over the course of a week in the production of a
ninety-minute, PBS-style show that will be distributed around the world.
The producer of the video's staging-and-recording will be Bob Gray, an
Emmy Award-winning producer with over thirty years of experience in film and
television production.
We have already performed a staged
musical reading of our pirate show. Now, with your help we hope to create and
film a full musical - theatrical production. Your donations will help to
compensate the artistic and production talent required to create, stage,
rehearse, and film the show in a studio setting. We are already booked
for public performance at the Fogartyville Community Media & Arts Center in
Sarasota, Florida on September 19th 2015 – which happens to be
national “Talk Like A Pirate Day”.

19, 2015 concert, visit the Fogartyville website here: http://www.sarasotapeacenter.org
