Short Summary
- Howdy! My name's Samuel Hernandez and I'm a student at Biola University. My time here's just about up but before l leave I want to make one last project while I'm still surrounded by amazing filmmakers!
- My senior thesis is a western comedy web-series featuring the misadventures of two mismatched cowboys. Santiago Jr. played by myself and Domingo Miercoles played by my good friend and talented actor Peyton Otterman. The series explores friendship and brotherhood as well as what it means to be a hero during a time when there were so many villains
- With your help we aim to create a fully independent series! We believe in YouTube and the coming dawn of independent television. You would be backing one of the pioneers of such a future. And all we need is $10,000! This would allow us to create four high-quality episodes comprising our first half of the season, afterwards we plan to secure additional funding by building upon that work.
What We Need & What You Get
Break it down for folks in more detail:
- We've already made one episode at this point so we have a very good idea of what this will cost. We've allocated our broad budget for the following:
- Locations: $4900
- Costumes: $455.50
- Props & Art: $887
- Production: $1881.85
- Transportation: $630
- Other: $1245.65
That "Other" category includes data storage drives, special equipment, batteries, marketing costs, festival submission fees, and the fee that Indiegogo charges to use the platform.
These are projections from the pilot episode we made. Moving forward we're going to have the knowledge and do our best to cut down on costs, but we've also gotten more ambitious!

The Impact
Our mission is twofold.
Firstly, it's to create good, family-friendly content. We believe Christians have a mission to be excellent in every industry, and while Faith-Based entertainment is great, we believe we are uniquely positioned to deliver a Christian perspective on life in a way that will appeal to everyone!
Secondly, as I mentioned we want to be pioneers of independent television. By supporting us you'll be helping two young college grads launch ourselves into the entertainment industry with full force! YouTube is making exciting changes to it's platform that are going to allow the web-series to gain traction like never before, creating what we believe will be the birth of sustainable independent television.
Risks & Challenges
Like all filmmaking we're not above risk and challenges, but we have confidence we can overcome them. If we aren't able to reach our funding goal we can still make our episodes, we'll just have to cut back on some of the production value like locations and art. But our crew, cast, and equipment will stay the same and most importantly the writing will be intact! No matter what these episodes will get made, the only question is to what degree of awesomeness.
Other Ways You Can Help
Money isn't everything! (Though it sure is helpful) We would greatly appreciate your support in other ways! Spreading the word and generating buzz is going to come largely from word of mouth until we can get enough digital content to start marketing. And we're always in need to a helping hand whether it's cool props, costumes, locations, horses, or even cast and crew! If you want to get involved, there's always an opportunity.
