Short Summary
Hi! I'm Paula Hatfield. I am a reading specialist and have been a teacher of students of all ages for over twenty years. I know how important a favorite story can be in a child's development. Everyone has times of sadness. My daughter and I created this story as an antidote for our own sadness while driving home from visiting friends who had moved far away. Putting in the various people made us laugh and made us feel better because, while no real person is depicted, the characters reminded us of the great friends we were leaving and the great friends we were going back to in our neighborhood. I have long dreamed of writing children's books. This book is even more special because my darling daughter, Lauren, helped to write it. You could help me realize me dream. We enlisted the help of our artist friend Peggy Sanders to help. The illustrations are amazing!
This book has a wonderful message that struggles are mitigated by friendships and that friends can come in a glorious diversity.
In Sasha's House, Mama and Lauren are running errands after school. Something at school has made Lauren feel sad, but the prospect of going to dinner at her friend Sasha's house makes her feel better. While Mama takes care of business, Lauren talks to her friends from the community, all of whom are also having bad days. Lauren invites all of them to Sasha's house for dinner, too, without telling Mama or, of course, Sasha's mother. What happens when everyone shows up at Sasha's house uninvited? Not telling. You have to read the story.
