The Design
When air travels at speed it can provide lift on an object, much akin to a surfboard achieving buoyancy on water due to the difference in material density. That's why the shape of a swallowtail surfboard was chosen. It is a beautiful shape, and will also achieve the lift needed to stay afloat on the airwaves. The board's dimensions have been scaled down similar to a finger skateboard. Your fingers can then ride the board as you would ride a surfboard. Further inspiration was taken from a skateboard's construction, utilising six layers of high quality wood laminate, glued and pressed to create a robust structure and curved shape.
Production
I currently produce every board myself. The handcrafted element will always be maintained to ensure a quality and personal product. Each board is made using offcuts of high quality wood that may have otherwise not been used. The limited size of these offcuts means the boards are made in batches of 3. This guarantees a unique appearance to each board, while maintaining a consistent shape and performance.
Who am I?
My name is Benjamin Townsend, and I am a degree-educated engineer resisting the call of a desk job. Crafting wooden products has always been a passion of mine, and i dream of combining it with my education in practical design. I now earn a living as a self employed carpenter/landscaper, while also pursuing some side projects. These include repurposing old whiskey barrels into furniture, building custom longboards/skateboards, and now I am launching my latest idea: finger surfboards!

How Your Contribution Will Help
During these early stages of production your contribution is key! In this initial stage I am only asking for contributions to cover the materials and time needed to produce each board. If the product is received well, the price tag will have to go up in order to grow the business. Your contribution during this conception stage is crucial for me to gauge how to take this idea forward.

Thanks for reading this far! I hope you enjoy these boards as much as i do...
