Who are we and what do we do?

That's a good question. Auld Reekie Media, run by Scottish born writer/director Christopher Downie and New Jersey born actor/producer Brett Murray, is an independent production company. Over the last few years we have been working exclusively on Kevin Smith biopic shorts, which we originally hosted on our YouTube channel. In early 2013 we were invited to join Smith's channel, SModcast Internet Television.

What's the movie about? Who will star?

'Shooting Clerks' details the making of Smith's seminal film and the trials he had to endure in order to do so. It's an indie underdog story. It's Rocky with cameras. We have a great cast in place, some of which you may recognize from 'Clerks', namely, Ernie O'Donnell (Rick Derris), Scott Schiaffo (Chewlies Gum Rep), Vinnie Periera (various roles), Betsy Broussard (RST Dental School customer) and of course, Kevin Smith himself. The crew is small, so as to keep costs low, but highly capable and very dedicated.

What will the money be used for?

We're actually one week into principal photography at the time of this entry. We've managed to cover a large majority of the costs ourselves thus far but we really need your help to make it over the finish line. The $3,500 we need to finish the film will cover very basic costs, mainly transportation (buses/trains for the actors), catering (for the cast and crew) and accommodation (again, for the cast and crew). From sets to costumes, we have everything else covered.

What do you get for your contribution?

There are dozens of perks available, ranging from a simple thank you in the closing credits all the way up to an associate producers credit. If we don't meet our goal, perks will still be made available but the film may take a little longer to make. Due to our obsessive work ethic and dedication to the source material, we'll find a way.

Supporters will receive digital copies of our previous short films, special features, DVDs, props, costumes pieces, signed posters and much, much more (and we mean much, much more). There's also a chance to grab one of our three speaking role perks in which you will be rewarded with lines and a character for Shooting Clerks. Also, we tend to throw in additional perks along the way, if we ever produce new content.

The Impact

Shooting Clerks is as much a celebration of Kevin's work as it is about Kevin himself. As our production motto states, made by fans for fans; meaning we are making this movie for a huge audience of like minded people. That being said, another factor behind a project such as this is to bring Kevin Smith's story to people who have never encountered his work before. It truly is an inspiring tale of how dedication and perseverance can aid you in achieving even your wildest of dreams.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you don't have a bean then please do what you can to spread the word and share the fundraiser with friends and family. We love you all the same. Thank you. See you at the movies.
