My Story
Hi folks, my name is Gerald.
Those of you that know me already know that I graduated as a gunsmith
with honors. Most people think that to become a gunsmith all one has
to do is to give the BATF a couple of hundred bucks, and that is
that. The fact is, that the BATF inspects your place of business for
security, such as cameras, gun safes, alarms, security windows, etc..
on top of those costs, there are several thousand dollars to get the
licenses, insurance, bonds, and all of the other things it takes to
do something like this the right way.
The good news is that I have
already managed to get my hands on the alarm, cameras, safe and most
of the tools I will be using for my trade. That was not cheap, I can
assure you.
If you know me, you also
know that I am fiercely independent and do not like asking for
anyone's help. Particularly when it comes to money. However, I am at
an impasse.
A few years ago I was
diagnosed with an inoperable cyst that presses on my spinal cord
creating excruciating pain. I spent 4 years trying to get Social
Security to allow me to retire early. Been working since I was 16
years old and have a bit saved up. In spite of having photographic
evidence of my problem, and various testimony from three neurosurgeons, the condition I suffer from is so rare the Administration wont even
recognize it. This makes me unable to work, and unable to collect the
money I worked for... which is why I chose to be a career gunsmith.
I am intimately familiar with guns of all kinds and I am good at it.
Being a gunsmith would allow me the luxury of working for myself
doing something I feel I am pretty great at, while being able to take
the necessary steps to keep my pain in check by working around it. Something I couldn't do working for some one else. I've done the painkiller thing and I am done drugging myself.
So I am relying on the
kindness of others to help me make this thing happen for myself.
Right now my wife shoulders the burden of supporting our family, and
I like that a hell of a lot less than asking you for help.
You may have noticed that
there is a huge effort to "re-interpret" the Second
Amendment, gun registries and the like. The more companies and small
business that open up that are directly effected by these laws, the
better it is for all of us, because becoming Legion is the only
chance we have to get congress to pay attention to us.
So, other than the
satisfaction that you are helping to preserve the American way of
life, and the Constitution, you might be asking yourself "what is
in it for me?" Good question - Just keep reading.
Other Ways You Can Help
I know times are tough, and some of you just can't contribute, but that doesn't mean you can't help:
- Ask folks to get the word out and make some noise about this campaign. Please remind your friends once in a while about this endeavor.
- Please use the Indiegogo share tools. These will help tremendously.
I'd like to thank you in
advance for your support. I said I wanted to be one of the best in
the country, and I wont disappoint.
