Short Summary of the Film

Screaming in Silence: Autism is a documentary about the affects of Autism on African American families.  Autism is a growing epidemic that has an resonating impact on the school systems, health and human services, judicial system, medical, mental health, therapeutic industry and caregivers in the African American community.  

This film follows several everyday African American families across the United States who have children (toddlers to adults) with autism. Autism doesn't discriminate, but it can diversely affect families in various ways.  Regardless of how unique an autistic individuals may be, those that love and care for them have one unified goal in life - fight to ensure they have the best quality of life. 

Screaming in Silence: Autism is a film about awareness... accountability... advocacy... and aspiration.

Why We Need Funding

Majority of the film is finish. We are in the final stages of completing the film. Filmmaker Sonya Dunn has financed the entire production thus far. She has produce this film for two reason:

1. Help others navigate through the world of autism they have been thrust into unexpectedly.
2. To give families a light of hope in the long journey of fighting for your children.

She remembers the early stages of her two sons being diagnosis with autism. Her fear, despair and grief. Her goal is to produce a film speaking directly to the African American Autism community to let them know you are not alone and disseminate information on how to best advocate for your child. 

This type of film is needed and requires your help. The Color of Autism Foundation is seeking donations to:

1. Complete post production
2. Create a marketing campaign
3. Finance duplication and distribution of DVDs and CDs
