Hello everyone,
My name is Cheri, Executive Producer for South East Mosaic Dance Festival. Along with an amazing team of volunteers, I am attempting to create an unique event. I have produced ongoing events on the west coast and recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of our quarterly dance event, A Night at the Oasis, for the general public here in Atlanta. All of us at the South East Mosaic Dance Festival would like to extend this opportunity from only a few evenings a year into a 2 day extravaganza of cross-genre learning and stage time for everyone.
All across the US, dance promoters host events on a regular basis; some dance communities even host these weekly. However, they all lack one special feature that we want to give to the Atlanta community – an open stage where everyone, regardless of style, age, form or gender may showcase their talent for those that love and support them! This is something that I believe every dancer should have, regardless of who they are or how long they have been dancing.
The South East Mosaic Dance Festival is a collaboration of like-minded artists interested in promoting community, education, innovation and beauty through dance and movement. We are doing this by building bridges between diverse communities that may not normally share their talents with one another. By creating a new dance event that is open to belly dance, burlesque, flow arts and anyone else who wants to experience these genres. We are engendering a stronger performance community!
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from different instructors from across the globe. We will have 27 hours of workshops from all three genres available, and both days will feature an open stage available for performers to showcase their art for their peers.
Our festival committee is made up of diverse personalities from the performance community. We are performers and promoters of these arts and we are striving to make a safe, inviting environment for all to enjoy. Your contribution to our festival will allow us to bring talented, well-respected teachers to the southeast that may not have taught here previously, and introduce new art forms in a fun, enjoyable and collaborative environment for everyone. Finally, it would give a platform for those who might not have had the opportunity to showcase their skills on the stage a chance to shine! Dancers, regardless of how long they have been dancing, may want to perform and show off the fruits of their labor. Supporting this festival through your contribution means that you will give those artists the opportunity. Let’s make sure that this can happen! Be a part of our exciting movement and help us get this off the ground for the good of the Southeastern dance community!

The Impact
Over the last few years of living in Atlanta, I have noticed that there are limited opportunities for dance outside of well-established troupes and restaurants. Dissatisfied with the status quo, I have come to realize there is a vast opportunity for fostering not just a dance market, but a community that can thrive on collaboration and shared opportunity. Mosaic and the Nights at the Oasis are
starting points. Help us create a legacy of dance, shared skills and cross-genre experimentation. This is a place where you can grow as an artist and WE create a community that nurtures growth! What we build together will be an avant-garde, highly inclusive dance scene that will evolve and grow exponentially over time!
With your help we can make this happen and make it beyond amazing. Here are some other events that we have successfully produced that show how we are all working to improve the dance community and make it available to everyone!
