We would like to introduce our new anti-magnetic professional diver: the SEA-02, the long awaited follow up to the SEA-01.

The SEA-02 encompasses everything that the SEA-01 was and more, from a more ergonomic design and a slightly smaller case size, the SEA-02 is the perfect everyday watch. We got a lot of emails from people looking for a smaller version of the SEA-01 so, we set out with the case and reduced it from 44mm diameter to a 42mm diameter, reduced the lug width from 24mm to 22mm and we have incorporated a double domed sapphire crystal.  

Every element of this watch is designed by us using the latest technology, it is manufactured to the highest standards and assembled here, in Ireland, by hand. Every watch is also regulated and tested thoroughly before it leaves.

We are offering two versions of this watch: a black dial version or a blue dial version. 

The black is a matt black and the blue is nice dark navy blue.

Both will have a metal bracelet, a rubber strap and a tool for swapping the straps.

The recommended retail price for this watch will be €900,(€1,107 incl. VAT - EU only)

Best of both worlds.  

The SEA-02 is the first Irish Made Professional divers watch on the market. This is something we have been working towards for the last number of years. But we know you want more, so on the inside we are using trusted Swiss movements.

This is our first Indigogo campaign and we want to do something special so we are keeping this special edition a limited run. We are only making this version available here and you say how many are in the limited edition.  

Once we pass the targeted amount we will only produce the amount backed. So if there are only 200 backers then we will only produce 200, or if there are 2000 then that is the amount we will make.

The caseback will be engraved with “Special Edition” and will have the serial number starting at 0001/???? (the ???? will be replaced with the final amount when the campaign finishes). To make it as fair as possible we will give the serial number in the order of when it was backed.

The case diameter is 42mm x 49mm with 22mm lugs. The height is a very comfortable 13.5mm from the bottom of the caseback to the top of the domed sapphire crystal. The strap width is 22mm. 

The case is made from 316L stainless steel and is finished in a brushed effect and has a polished top edge. The underneath is curved to sit comfortably on your wrist and the edges rounded for maximum comfort.

The crystal is a double domed sapphire. We are using a double dome to eliminate distortion when the watch is viewed from an angle and we are using sapphire crystal for its hardness and scratch resistant properties.  The crystal also has an anti-reflective coating.

The crystal is held in place with a screwed-in locking ring to prevent it popping out during decompression on commercial saturation dives. 

The rotating bezel is the most important feature for divers. It is used to time dives and is used as a back up to computers. The bezel rotates anticlockwise and with 120 clicks it is easy to line up with the hour hand. 

We design everything to be tough and durable and this especially goes for the bezel. We have deep etched the top and coated this area with black PVD. This means no matter how tough you are on your watch the bezel will always be easily read. 

We have changed the design very slightly over the old model, we have added minute marks all the way around to make it easier for divers to time their dives.

Accuracy and durability matter so we have chosen the outstanding Swiss made SW200 movement. This movement is the work horse of the Swiss watch industry and parts are easily obtained, meaning it can be serviced long into the future by any good watchmaker.  

The SW200 is a 26 jewel automatic mechanical movement, it runs on the movement of your wrist, and it has a 38 hour power reserve.

This watch uses a mechanical movement and all mechanical movements are prone to magnetism. Elements such as the hair spring can get magnetized and cause the watch to run inaccurately, so to combat this we have incorporated a shield around the movement made of Mu-metal. Mu-metal is a soft iron that is commonly used in magnetic shielding. 

This watch is capable of reaching depths of 500 meters, and can be used by both scuba divers as well as professional commercial saturation divers. We use Viton rubber seals to ensure there are no leaks.

We use sandwich construction on the dial. The dial is made up of 2 parts, the top section that has the cut-outs and a bottom section that contains the luminescent material. We use Superluminova BGW9 which is one of the brightest on the market, it is white during the day and gives off a blueish green glow at night.  

The design is based on our previous model the SEA-01 but we have removed the date to give the dial a more balanced look. This version is limited and it is only available here on Indigogo.

We are offering two colour options: a matt black dial and a deep blue dial.

The hand designs are a direct descendant from the SEA-01 and use the same BGW9 lume as the dial. They are easily read, both during the day and during the night. They are made from silver to catch the light and the centre section is black to match the dial to give the hands a floating effect around the dial.  

Every detail is scrutinized right down to the hundredth of a millimeter, including the exact length of the hands and the placement of the point of the minute and second hands on the minute track. 

The bracelet is an important element in the design, it has to be strong, comfortable, adjustable and look good from the depths of the ocean to the board room. We are using a “beads of rice” style band and a clasp that incorporates a ratcheting diver’s extension.  

This is a 22mm version of our popular premium rubber strap. The strap is made from natural rubber and is sourced from the leading manufacturer in rubber straps. The straps are designed by us and are inspected at every stage by us to ensure quality and suppleness.  

At SAS we want you to keep your watch and know that the weakest part of any watch are those little spring bars that hold the strap on to your watch. We hate them, they are unreliable, weak and when one breaks your watch is on the floor, or worse, the bottom of the ocean. 

So we use screwbars, 1.9mm thick bars with Allen key heads. These make changing straps easy and secure, using the provided tool. 

Every watch comes with a two-year warranty. 

The watch is presented in our leather bound box and includes the watch, metal bracelet, rubber strap, tool for changing straps, cleaning cloth and warranty card. 

We are SAS Watch Company Ltd http://saswatchco.com. We launched our first model the SEA-01 back in 2008. The SEA-01 was a 1000 meter professional divers watch and was a great success and launched us into the watch world.  

It was followed up by the AIR series which used the same case design but without the rotating bezel to give it a more elegant look.

We also set up a second brand name Míleata http://mileata.com, this is a striped down military watch. It’s tough and durable and designed to meet the requirements of military personnel.

We are very much about form and function while focusing on strength and durability. We design all the components of the case, dials, crystals, etc. and do not use off the shelf cases that you will find in a lot of other small brands.

We have a great relationship with our different suppliers, and manufacturers, and many of the details of this watch have already been discussed and worked out, so we can get started straight away.

So with all our suppliers in place and our proven track record of producing top quality watches we can say this is a very low risk investment.

Challenges
The only challenge is the production time frame. Producing everything from scratch and the extra time involved with molds and machining can give us a longer production time, but we will keep you updated as we progress, and try to make the time fly.

All the images of the new watch are computer generated, the reason for this is we have no prototypes at this stage, we only have the computer models.
The computer models that we generate are taken from the same files that we use for the production, so they are a good representation of the finished watch. The photographs that you see are taken of our previous model the SEA-01, as they share many of the same components and give a good guide to the new model. As we progress, we will add photographs of the new components.
