Who (and what) is KTO Productions?

My name is Doug Knoop, I'm a Seattle native with deep roots in the local theater scene. Since my return to Seattle after college I've performed and directed all over the Puget Sound area.  I formed KTO Productions to allow myself and other artists to stretch beyond their "comfort zones" and to create and perform projects they are passionate about.

In the fall of 2011, our inaugural production of Conor McPherson’s “The Weir” was a crowd pleaser and a critical success. In 2012 we presented "'night mother" by Marsha Norman. Talkin' Broadway called it "as gripping a 90 minutes as can be seen on any Seattle stage..." while Jerry Kraft of SeattleActor.com said the show was “absolutely genuine and it left me genuinely moved.” 

Why "Sea Marks"?

Gardner McKay's 1982 drama tells the tale of a romance between an Irish fisherman and woman he's glimpsed only once. The play had been suggested several times by Toni Douglass (director of our production of "The Weir") and this fall seems like the right time to share this drama with Seattle audiences.

Where is the money going?

Our first goal is to cover the rental of rehearsal and performance spaces ($1,500), $750-$1,000 to cover set construction and basic publicity costs. Beyond that we are hoping to cover performance rights, technical needs (set, lighting) and basic publicity costs.

And of course, we would love to pay our actors and stage manager a decent stipend.
