A journey about health improvement on the road and around the world
After meet each other on a plane, coming back to Europe from Argentina, me and Mo began to build our new life based on the freedom, the nature, and mostly, our love.
This trip, besides our joy of travel, is made to test how far we can go with my health improvement; living simple, connecting with the nature, and slowing down the stress of the modern city life as determinant factors to stabilize my glycemic index. We are also on the finding for other diabetics around the world, who can tell a story which could be helpful for myself, our followers and everybody who is interested in other ways to look at common diseases like this one.
On June 2014, after spending some hours talking about our future, we were ready to make a move. We quit our jobs, we sold everything we have, keeping only the escencials to began the trip, and in the process, we beagn to investigate a way to cure or improove my disease. I’m diabetic type 1, and I depend of insulin and some other no-travel-friendly activities which doesn't give me the freedom I needed to be on the road.
On January 2014, guided from several findings which sounded logical to us, we started trying a vegan-raw-food diet. ….and everything changed.
After one week, I was not using any more rapid insulin to correct the food intake, and in 6 months, I was using only 15 units of basal insulin per day, in comparison with the previous 82 units. I understood, this was no joke, and that It was possible to achieve what almost every doctor told me was impossible since I get this disease.
I don’t know if I’m going to get rid of the insulin for good yet, and it’s not my main concern, but today 7 months after I started my new diet + excersise + meditation routines, the need for insulin is less and less...
I’m an artist, designer and musician, Mo, my wife, is a photographer, a traveler by nature, the official writer of our blog and she’s the one who guided me through my new vegan life since she’s been doing it since she was a little girl. We are both from Argentina, and we’ve been around Europe, exploring and working, since 2009.
We will write our field notes blog, in which we will be posting our evolution and experiences, the friends we meet, and the places along the way.
We will publish a book and a documentary by the end of the trip, in which we will organize and tell the relevant information regarding the investigations and the daily life with diabetes on the road, and also a, clear, modern and helpful diabetic bracelet.
We also will produce, an Original Raw-vegan cookbook focused on diabetic diet, with our best recipes, the ones who made the need of insulin diminish drastically
Besides our Self-sustainable diabetes trip related production, we will produce several art pieces for distribute among our followers. Drawings, paintings, photographs, and many other crafts produced in the differents countries we visit, using their available materials and resources.
Please support us, so we can keep discovering on the road!
