Short Summary
One of our own CORA-raised players, Jenna McBride, will be representing Canada at the Ringette World Championships in North Bay starting on 29 Dec 2013.
Jenna is involved in almost every part of ringette. She has played on a variety of Provincial-winning teams, has represented Ontario at National Championships, and Canada at previous World Championships, and has been a member of the CORA NRL team for the past 7 years. She's a mentor and coach, has been assistant coach and coach on a variety of Tween AA and Junior AA teams, and has coached powerskating. She's also one of the best referees in Ottawa.
She has given a lot to CORA and to CORA players. She has trained coaches who coach your daughters today and she has inspired a whole new generation of player coaches including four working this year with U10 Purple and U16B. In fact if you are a coach at CORA chances are you have a Jenna McBride play in your playbook.
This is our opportunity as an organization and as a community to help offset the costs involved in playing for ringette for Canada.
What We Need & What You Get
Here is what we need:
- It will cost Jenna over $7,000 in travel expenses by the time she has completed all the training required to be a member of Team Canada
- Any contribution that you make helps to offset this cost.
Here is what your team gets:
- We have a bunch of cool incentives for teams that raise money. Check them out, get excited and raise some money.
The Impact
Good role models are hard to find and in ringette we work hard to bring players back into the fold as coaches, assistant coaches and volunteers. But coaching requires a combination of skills - leadership, diplomacy, empathy and a strong knowledge of the game.
We understand ringette better at CORA because Jenna has been coaching at the top level for the last six years. Helping her to follow her dreams and compete for gold at the Ringette World Championships is the least that we can do.
Our Target
We set a modest target - $1,000 - let's shatter it !
