My name is Jill Peck and I am a Seattle Based Photographer. I am very passionate about photography and hope to transition my career from being part time to full time as a Commercial Photographer. There is an opportunity to attend a photography workshop in Seattle called "Survival Guide". The workshop is an opportunity to delve in, and understand what it takes to become a successful commercial artist built on a solid business foundation.
What I Need & What I Get
I need to raise $1300 which is the fee to attend the workshop. There are two different weekends available for the class (enrollment is limited, 25 seats) and I want to attend the weekend of April 10 -12.
If I raise $1150 by February 18th I can register early and any additional funds raised will be put toward a printed portfolio.
This will be an amazing three days for me! This is what the weekend of the workshop will like.
Friday: Meet and greet with the instructors and other attendees. One - On - One Portfolio reviews with John Keatley start this night as well. I am really stoked about this. John Keatley is an amazing photographer with a brilliant creative eye. I will try not to be a fan girl.
Saturday: Will focus on understanding the commercial industry, how it is changing, and how I fit into it. Some of the finer details will be:
Understanding the Industry, Licensing, Peer Reviews, Create & Conquer Your Goals, Bidding / What To Charge, Define Your Style, Finding A Rep,Find Your Niche
Sunday: All about building a strong brand and a solid business. Further details are as follows:
Building a Brand, Social Media, Leverage & Strategy, Forms & Organization, Creating Personal Work, Marketing, Networking, Finances & Taxes, Building A Creative Team, Get Your Work Out There
For a more detailed description of the workshop visit
John Keatley's website.
The Impact
There are many aspects of being a photographer that are not learned while attending college, so you have to be a proactive learner. A lot of knowledge is gained by trial and error and the rest is through research and attending workshops. By funding me, I will gain the tools that will help me propel my career.
Other Ways You Can Help
Not everyone may be able to contribute, but that doesn't mean you can't help:
- Get the word out and make some noise about my campaign.
- When at all possible use the Indiegogo share tools!
