Help us get Katy's Crystal Pussy to Edinburgh Fringe!
WHO AM I?
Hi! I'm Katy Berry. I'm a teacher. Well, I'm an artist, which is worse, but I pay the bills through teaching screenwriting and music improv sooooo... yeah. Luckily, my undeniable talent and ruthless grit have opened doors for me anyway! I have traveled the world as a musical improviser, performing in prestigious venues like The Kennedy Center. I've have had my work featured in Vulture, Bustle, Reductress, Las Culturistas Live, Time Out New York, and more. My pre-Oscar winning screenplay POPCORN was chosen for the Blacklist and Women in Film Residency in 2020. My second film, Click, Click, Play is being produced by Gunpowder and Sky. Most of this success has actually cost me money, but my boyfriend is a software developer and I have his PayPal info attached to my Seamless, so that's why I'm still alive.

WHAT THE HELL IS THE "FRINGE"?
GREAT question!! The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the largest live theater festival in the WORLD. It started in the 1940s by a group of kooky artists who weren't allowed to produce their work in the snooty mainstream theater festival, so they were like fuck that and started getting WILD, producing all kinds of weird shit on the side. Since then, every August, the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, is home to roughly 2000 shows! The Fringe has stuck to its original mission, helping underdog artists shine on a global stage.... JK it's cripplingly expensive to be a part of! Capitalism sucks. But nonetheless, it IS a magical festival where OUTSTANDING comedic voices are discovered, like Fleabag's Phoebe Wallers Bridge, or Nanette's Hannah Gadsby.

About the Show:
DIAMOND GODDESS CRYSTAL PUSSY (DGCP) is a brand new musical that combines high-energy improvisation, audience interaction, and storytelling about my life growing up on Long Island. DGCP tells the story of ME! A young(ish) woman who discovers that she’s the product of a secret one-night stand between her mom and Poseidon, the Sea King. Realizing I am a Demi-Goddess, I go on a mission to reclaim my repressed magic from being raised as a ‘mortal’ on Long Island.
Some highlights:
GUILTY PLEASURES: Audience members write their anonymous 'guilty pleasures' on pieces of paper. I pluck out your dirty little secrets and freestyle about them to music. This bit has been a crowd favorite since my pre-pandemic cabaret days.
LETTING GO RITUAL: I interview an audience member about what they'd like to release from their life, then improvise a song with the help of an audience choral arrangement created-on-the-fly. The power of this ritual can launch any mortal into a shiny new chapter!
GUEST APPEARANCES BY BILLY JOEL! (Not by choice. -_- )
There are so many more surprises, but I can't give them all away. Check my instagram for updates on NYC shows before we head abroad! @katyberrycomedy
WHY DO I WANNA GO SO BAD?
I have been to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 3 times with a musical improv group called Baby Wants Candy, so I understand how life-affirming it is for artists. But this year I want to come with my own show, get those reviews, prove that I can do hard things all by myself! I wanna make a shit ton of people laugh and feel. I want to stand tall as a solo creator and leave a teeny tiny ink splotch on the pages of fringe comedy history. AND YES I WANT TO WIN AN AWARD. They have awards there. Who doesn't love an award??
WHERE EXACTLY IS MY MONEY GOING?
Great question. Venue fees are around $3K. Our PR rep costs around $2,400. Photos, posters, fliers - another $1,400. Airfare for me and my producer, $2,000. Housing for a month, $3,500. Props, tech fees, equipment - another $2,000. I am paying for as much as humanly possible out of my own pocket and whatever we do not make via fundraising... I mean, we'll figure it out somehow! Lol!
If you've read this far, thank you. I hope you'll find it in your heart to support my dream. Remember- if we don't support the arts then everyone dies.![]()
I love you so much!

A NOTE ABOUT THE VIDEO REEL:
Hi, look - I know the reel is one camera angle and bad audio. I'm sorry. The truth is, if I had the money to put up a live show myself AND hire a team of video producers - I probably wouldn't be asking you for money. We are fundraising for an ass-tingling live theater experience, not a movie. Get into it, baby!!! If you want more info about me, visit my website, www.katyberrycomedy.com ::winks::
