The STORY
It was just
a Tuesday in September before it was 9/11.
September
12th is the story of five college
freshmen living through the events of 9/11 in a dorm room. Far away from
their families and everything they've known, they stay up all night sharing stories, telling jokes and asking “What’s it going to be like tomorrow?” as they wait for the sun to
rise in answer to their question. Out of our national tragedy, lifelong bonds
are forged. Those Friendships anchor them to who they truly are as they grow and explore new roads and
experiences.
The MISSION
The manner in which we make this film is as important as the film itself.
We are committed to honoring our nation's collective
memory by exploring voices that have yet to be heard. An important
part of this comes with the understanding that the lives severely affected
by 9/11 cannot be rebuilt the same way a skyscraper can. But that doesn't mean we can't help people build a better future. We are donating 50% of all monies received to an
incredible organization that awards college scholarships to children and family
members who lost loved ones on 9/11. We would be honored if you
contributed to launching our film, but we’re just as proud to be making a
contribution to the Twin Towers Orphan Fund.
Please note that while 50 cents of every dollar you contribute will go directly to Twin Towers Orphan Fund, this donation will not be tax deductible.
The HISTORY
September 12th debuted as a Staged Commemorative
Reading at Virginia Repertory Theatre in Richmond, VA on September 11th,
2014.
A post-show talkback with professors from the University of
Richmond, community members, and current students brought up important
questions about the nature of how we remember and document history. We are in
danger of sealing the events of 9/11 in a time capsule of textbooks and news
footage.
Film has the ability to reach and engage viewers in a unique way
across all platforms. It’s our hope that September 12th will open the
door to another perspective and encourage others to share their personal and
important stories.
The FUTURE
Production is slated to begin in the Fall of 2015 to ensure a 2016 release. Your contribution will go along way in securing the funds needed to make this film and achieve our goal: Premiering our film on the 15th anniversary of 9/11 in New York City.
The FINE PRINT
You will be contributing to a group of socially conscious filmmakers committed to expanding and commemorating 9/11 history through art and education.
You will be contributing to higher education for children who lost parents on 9/11.
You will NOT be receiving a tax deduction.
