WHO WE ARE
We are a group of passionate dancers in
our fourth year at Simon Fraser University. We are in need of assistance to
fund our final Grad Performance, which will be an hour-long movement based
mosaic of our last four years here.
Early adult-hood is often seen as a
seminal time in ones evolution. There are moments of self-doubt, trials,
triumphs, and everything in between on the road to self-actualization. We will
explore this journey through movement, sound, text and lighting.
WHAT WE NEED
With your help we will be able to compensate the countless tireless
artists collaborating on this work and emanate our message to the masses.
This project is all
encompassing and includes a great deal of people and planning to be successful.
Since the process takes an immense amount of time and work to prepare for it is
imperative that we compensate all the individuals involved.
We have applied for a
grant and fundraised on our own but we still need your help, as this show is entirely
student run!
The people we will be compensating:
Grad 2016 Budget Breakdown: Technical Supervisor, Front of House, Cashier, Lighting Designer, Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Technical Director, Musicians/Composers, Costumes and Programs/Posters
OUR INTENTION
Our hopes through these
performances are to touch audiences with our personal journeys. We have created
life long bonds through this program and have experienced numerous trials along
the way. By expressing our vulnerability and the strength of these relationships
we hope to create a cathartic experience for audiences.
Students of Simon Fraser
University are some of the most brilliant, generous and talented souls you may
come to meet. In the past, the shows run by students have received numerous
accolades and have been celebrated for their integrity, innovation and talent. This grad
show specifically has greatly helped aspiring graduates emerge into the
professional art world.
As artists in this chaotic world it can prove to be
difficult to reach large audiences. We hope to overcome this hurdle with your
help. Consequently, we will be able to integrate ourselves into the
public sphere and continue to strive to create positive change in the world
with our art!
