Shakespeare, College, and New York
Recently I won first place in the English Speaking-Union's annual Shakespeare competition. The competition has been around for a little over three decades, and is open to high school students all across the country. After winning my school's competition I went to the regional competition, where I placed first in the state. Because of this I have been invited to compete in the national competition in New York City on April 30th and May 1st. This is a rare opportunity that I may not get again, so I and the adults that are accompanying me decided to extend the trip so that I can take tours of some prestigious New York colleges. Transportation and travel expenses have been taken care of, however, during the six days that we are in New York, my father and I will need a place to stay. That's where you come in.
During my three days in New York before the competition officially kicks into gear, I plan to tour at Julliard, NYU, and meet with a few professional actors and directors to learn a little bit more about what it's like to work as a performer in New York. Hotels in New York aren't cheap, so I need all the help I can get to make sure that I have a place to stay while I'm in New York. Anything helps, and all money will go towards my ongoing pursuit of higher education, and this invaluable opportunity to hone my craft.
