Short Summary
We are a youth-led non-profit media organization in Norway providing mentorship, training and counseling in media, journalism and communication to socially deprived communities in both Norway and on abroad. We mainly work with young people and individuals with immigrant background, disabilities or socially deprived environments. We aim to provide them new skills for expressing themselves creatively via media tools and gain new skills for employment and better civic participation.
This small but inspiring Christmas/New year campaign is part of one of our media/journalism projects for young people between 14-17.

15 young people from diverse backgrounds have been trained in visual design and journalism. As a part of their completion task reflecting diversity and positive communication, they needed to develop a creative campaign.

Then, we came up with the idea of inviting people from all over the world to send us Christmas/new year messages addressing people in Norway in text, picture or video formats. These messages will be published on some news sites and displayed on a screen in the centrum Oslo at our Christmas tent. The names of the senders and the country will be also visible there.

Meanwhile our talented young participants design special Christmas/new year cards and we print them in postal card format.

In return to the sent messages, people in Norway will choose random names on the senders list and will write their Christmas/new year message on the designed cards and we will send them by post all over the world.
The young people will also prepare a short film about the campaign and the Christmas in the end.

What We Need & What You Get
This project is purely volunteer based but there are some costs to actualize. First of all there is a need for printing the cards, which is expected to be around 3000 NOK (500 USD) for 1000 cards,
Moreover, posting each of the card costs around 15 NOK (2.2 USD) and we plan to send 1000 cards all over the world, which means 2200 USD in total.
There is also tent rent cost, and promotion costs in total of 2000 USD.
The Impact
This exciting project brings together shared joy of Christmas/new year and creativity, and activism of young people.
The works of young people gets publicity and is appreciated though a purposeful campaign.
Also the campaign aims to increase awareness of intercultural dialogue through message sharing with random people from different cultures.
Risks & Challenges
The foreseen obstacle in front of the campaign is delay of postal cards due to high season of postal service. We will try to avoid this problem by sending the postal card until 8th of December.
Moreover, we may have low level of participation from Norwegians and international message senders. For ensuring higher participation, we will make use of social media channels. At our Christmas tent, we will arrange some cultural attractions, while making a Christmas gift lottery among the participants of the campaign.
