Circular Shift:
Presented by
Shauna Sorensen and Dancers
Help us fund our first evening length show!!!
Hi! My name is Shauna, the director of Shauna Sorensen and Dancers, a Queens-based modern/contemporary dance company that has been showcasing throughout the five boroughs since 2010. I founded the company as a safe space to create and collaborate, while providing performance opportunities for more dancers. The company's repertoire includes several short pieces, but this is the FIRST time we are creating a full evening-length work.
Circular Shift started as an eight-minute piece, first performed in July 2015 at Dixon Place in New York City. But a new 45-minute version will be showcased on April 9th at 7:30pm as part of Gibney Dance’s POP:Showing, a program supporting curated rental opportunities for the dance community.
Creating an evening-length work has been a dream of mine and I am so excited to see it come to life!!!
The $1800 earned will help the company:
-
$1000 Compensate the dancers: Shauna Sorensen and Dancers has seven lovely ladies dedicated to the creation of such an ambitious performance. Your donations will provide these dancers with the compensation they deserve.
-
$385 Fund rehearsal space: With the amount of hours needed to create a work of this magnitude your donations will help pay the bill we have racked up over the past few months :)
-
$80 Cover Costumes: This campaign will help ease the cost of clothing the newest dancers joining us for this performance.
-
$335 Pay for the Showcase Rental: The intimate POP:Showing setting is the perfect opportunity to showcase this brand new piece. BUT it comes with a price that you can help us with.
Please help us by donating or spreading the word!!!! Every little bit helps and will go a long way to helping the company achieve its goal of creating the full evening length version of Circular Shift!!!
