WE.ARE.BACK.
GREETINGS!
Hi! We are Nora & Insiyah journalists and filmmakers who embarked on a journey three years ago to document the entrepreneurial revolution happening for women in the world of tech. Our goal: empower 1 million girls globally in 2016.
We bootstrapped, and along the way we created an amazing team to help us get there. Ted Dintersmith, and Mike Zak of Charles River Ventures, backers for Sundance films, as well as Jana Shea a well known Broadway producer and who recently backed India's Daughter came aboard as executive producers. Amazing people in the valley such as Cindy Padnos, Fran Maier, Ann-Miura-Ko, Christine Herron, Danny Rimer, Michael Carter, Angie Chang, Dave McClure, Victoria Ransom, Holly Liu, Ruchi Sanghvi, Joanne Wilson, Vinod Khosla and many many more interviewed, supported us or made an intro. We are so excited and grateful to have their support!
Now it's your turn! We are back to show you where we are at, and finally finish the film you have all been waiting for!
THE PITCH
Young tech entrepreneurs, with their
overnight millionaire status & cool products are the new rock stars of the
business world. When one thinks of what that rock star may look like, the
cliché has been of young guy in a hoodie.
Rarely does one visualize a woman.
And why would they? Only 3 per cent of all tech start-ups are founded by
women. She Started It is a new documentary film aiming to dispel those
myths and spotlight those women who are out there in the trenches. She Started It profiles five of these driven women
during their day to day lives – their names are Stacey Ferreira, Thuy Truong,
Brienne Ghafourifar, Sheena Allen and Agathe Molinar. The film follows these
tenacious, young entrepreneurs over the course of 2+ years and illuminates the
ups and downs they face as they attempt to build their new businesses.
This is the last leg of the journey –- we want to make history and we want YOU to be part of this. Help us empower 1 million girls globally in 2016.

Through the funding of our backers and supporters we got this far – a rough cut of the film. Now is the fun part – ever heard the term, “fix it in post?”
Though we have a larger stretch goal for post - the money we raise here will go directly towards our sound cleanup & music and online editing. The rest of the funds we will continue to raise through grants and other contributions.
Post production, any filmmaker will tell you, is even more expensive than actual production. The funds we raise from this campaign will go directly to the basic enhancements we need so that we can screen in front of an audience & get the film out there for distribution. We have been so incredibly lean so far, with a tiny team & small budget. Now we need your backing to get to the finish line!
