Overview
How do we experience and redefine love and art while in isolation? Through regular, virtual meetings since April 2020, a diverse group of 14 artists created a trove of original, quarantine-inspired content—stories, images, video and sounds. Now we are ready to present a vibrant live performance based on this material. Shelter in Love is a multimedia performance that combines live performance with video and music while exploring the themes that were raised during the pandemic crisis: isolation, social and racial inequality, violence, the environmental crisis and technological innovation. The title of our show has been inspired by all the artists who during the pandemic found shelter in love and creativity.

Your Support
Luckily, Shelter in Love has no shortage of supporters: YOU! (Even reading this far is an act of love!) The pandemic may have limited our lives and forced us to social and physical distancing, but we are still standing, producing live theater and expecting to do so for many years to come. Your contribution will help us cover the expenses of our production and support artists whose ability to practice their craft was significantly impacted during the pandemic. You may support Shelter in Love in a variety of ways:
- by making a contribution to this campaign, which is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law;
- by purchasing show tickets here;
- by telling your friends, family, acquaintances, your green grocer, your periodontist and that annoying uncle about the show and this campaign; and
- by using the Indiegogo share tools to promote the show and this campaign to your circle of friends.
Finally, we would be remiss if we didn't express our gratitude for the institutional and government support we have received in the development of Shelter in Love:
-
Shelter in Love is presented in partnership with the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center’s Global Program.
- This project was made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
- This project was made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Queens Council on the Arts.
... and of course, this project is made possible by all of you! So, a wholehearted “thank you” to you all for contributing to this campaign and supporting us over the years!
