Make the Shift.
About Us: Shift Thrift Store is a 501c3 non-profit social enterprise retail outlet that gives a significant percentage of profits to charitable organizations throughout the Pikes Peak region. Shift's goal is to raise money for qualified non-profits by allocating the donations based on a consignment-style system. Donors to the store will specify which partner organization to designate the items. The inventory will be managed by consignment software and offer individual accounts for each organization. Periodic disbursements will be sent to the qualified non-profits based on a percentage of sale prices.
Thrift is a booming business as seen by the success of large thrift organizations. Every day in the Pikes Peak region thrift stores are filled with shoppers and items donated. The Shift model will capitalize on this industry while offering significant income to qualified organizations that help others in the community. For local charities, grants and donations are increasingly scarce. However, citizens have homes and businesses filled with items that can be donated on behalf of great causes. Shift will produce income every day of the year for years to come.
Shift offers multiple benefits to the community:
- Create jobs. Shift creates jobs in the community. Shift will be comprised of a paid staff and volunteers. Paid staff will include community members with employment disadvantages who are seeking job skills.
- Promoting community involvement. Shift will be a community hub collaborating with charitable organizations in the Pikes Peak Region. Shift will be an advocate for participating members by promoting their causes through store events, advertising, and more.
- Preserving the environment. The recycling of household goods keeps unwanted items out of landfills as well as reducing the need to purchase new items.
- Generate revenue for charitable causes. Shift will be a conduit of revenue for participating non-profit organizations through the donation and sale of household goods.
Each non-profit organization will receive 30% of the sales price of the donations made on their behalf. The remaining income will be used for business expenses, payroll, capital improvements, etc. Income after expenses will be used for additional benefit to the community or expansion of the social enterprise.
Shift the way you shop. Shift the way you give. Make the shift!
