Shine is for anyone who wants to charge handheld devices while disconnected from the energy grid. In other words, this is not your average home wind turbine! This turbine is more than a residential wind turbine, it can be taken anywhere the wind blows. Use Shine to keep electronics charged while backpacking, camping, RVing, fishing, hunting, remote working, and more.
HERE'S THE TIME IT TAKES SHINE TO PRODUCE THE POWER TO CHARGE POPULAR DEVICES
Shine’s 3 high-efficiency blades and patent-pending technology allow it to rapidly create and store energy faster than any other comparable handheld renewable energy product. It can collect three phones' worth of power in an hour at maximum rated wind speeds (28 mph).
The graph above shows the amount of power Shine will generate at low, medium, and high wind speeds. At 8 mph, Shine will create enough power to trickle charge its internal battery. At 28 mph, the wind turbine will generate 40 watts to rapidly charge its internal battery.

How to Stop Shine's Blades from Spinning
Shine is built for the outdoors. Its mount is made of 7075-T6 aluminum and its motor enclosure is made of aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. Additionally, the turbine's body is made of a durable injection-molded PC-ABS blend while its 3 blades and rotor also contain glass fill for extra rigidity. Shine also has its own maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to always generate the highest amount of power available from the wind!

These ranged from optimizing the pivot point to face Shine into the wind, to fitting everything needed to set up the turbine inside its internal compartment, to its patent-pending design that provides portability without sacrificing efficiency!
SHINE GETS MORE POWER FROM NATURE
Shine’s major differentiator is its power generation efficiency. When it comes to generating high amounts of energy quickly, the wind wins! This is because the wind has a cubic relationship with power. As wind speeds double, power output increases 8x.

The cubic output of wind, paired with Shine’s 3 high-efficiency blades and lightweight design, allow the turbine to produce the most amount of energy for the least amount of weight compared to any other comparable portable renewable charger.
What does this mean? Your new portable turbine is more efficient than other comparable wind turbines, river turbines, solar panels, and thermoelectric generators on the market!

The team behind Shine are all avid outdoor enthusiasts who have experienced the typical issues that come with portable solar chargers. At this size, solar panels are only about 5-10% efficient, especially if the sun is not directly above the panel. Also, very little power is generated if there’s cloud coverage, it’s nighttime, or there’s dust or dirt on the panel.
Shine provides energy, day or night, in rain, cloud, or sunshine. This ability to provide energy any time of day in all different weather conditions makes it a much more reliable source of portable power than solar panels which rely on full sun exposure to provide ample energy.
Shine’s power output increases eight times as wind speeds double. In comparison, solar only has a linear relationship with power which means that as solar intensity doubles, its power output only doubles.
That said, we love all renewable energy! Wind and solar complement each other quite well. You can always use a wind turbine and solar panel combination to meet your charging needs.

Long-lasting design
Shine is made of incredibly durable metal, plastics, and electrical components to survive and thrive in the elements. The turbine has been designed for 1,000+ hours of operation, which for its application, is expected to last at least five years.
Reusability and recyclability
The Shine Turbine and its packaging have been designed with sustainability top of mind. Up to 85% of Shine’s parts are recyclable. For ease, we always recommend checking ahead to find out if your local recycling program will accept Shine.
Sustainable materials
Our packaging is plastic-free and 100% recyclable and biodegradable. The box Shine comes in is made of at least 85% certified post-consumer recycled paper and our user manuals are printed on 100% certified post-consumer recycled paper.
Environmentally friendly factories
Shine is manufactured locally in Nova Scotia, Canada. This allows us to oversee and refine our production process for the highest quality and to reduce the GHGs that comes from shipping units in from overseas.

We believe that the majority of risks and challenges associated with getting your Shine Turbine to you are behind us, and here's why:
- Shine has passed UL and CSA certifications. Next up are CE and RCM!
- We’ve started shipping our Kickstarter orders. Indiegogo orders will be next!
- We’re manufacturing in-house in Atlantic Canada so we can oversee the entire manufacturing process, ensure product quality, and immediately resolve any issues that arise.
That said, when producing anything new, unexpected things can happen. If they do, we promise to keep you in the know and to be fully transparent and honest about whatever comes our way.
The greatest risk to our project is the unexpected challenges the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic could present to our shipping timelines and supply chain. To help prevent disruptions, we’ve identified parts and suppliers that could be a risk and have worked to secure inventory ahead of time. We have also identified alternative suppliers who can fulfill new part order needs if necessary.
Quality is our top priority. During production and fulfillment, if we identify anything that doesn’t meet our quality control standards, we're going to let you know, and we’re going to fix it immediately.

DUTIES AND TAXES
Orders shipped internationally may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and/or fees imposed by the destination country. These charges are not included in our product price and are the buyer’s responsibility.
The amount can vary. Charges are based on the wind turbine cost or product price, type of item(s), package weight and dimensions, origin country, and the taxes, duties, and fees of the destination country.
For European backers, combined sales tax and duties charges may range from $115 - $250 CAD. Depending on your region, there may be an additional disbursement fee ranging from $0 - $20 CAD. For more information, we encourage you to research your country’s import tax laws and rates/fees that may apply when purchasing our product(s).

If a product is seized by customs or returned to Canada, we will NOT be responsible for the loss, product, or shipping refund. It is the buyer's responsibility to cover the shipping costs when the buyer wishes to have a second delivery attempt after the product is returned to Aurea Technologies.
