The viral #ShotAtShock campaign is producing and shooting a concept trailer designed to showcase Quentin’s unearthed talent, to prove that he's perfect fit for his dream role in Michael B. Jordan's upcoming electrifying superhero film, Static Shock! The goal of this trailer is to give Quentin an equitable shot at an audition. The goal of this campaign is to inspire the world to go after their dreams, no matter how "impossible" others say they may be. Once this project is released, to complete the mission, we aim to generate buzz around the trailer to get Michael B. Jordan to consider Quentin for an audition. 

Who Am I?

Glad you asked! I'm Quentin, the lead actor and writer of Shot At Shock. I've been training acting professionally and extensively for 5 years. Along with having the privilege of playing the Blue Ranger in an upcoming Power Rangers film, I've starred in national theater tours, indie films, new media projects (including the App Store's #1 science education app Tappity)!

Why Support? / Why Me?

My mission as an actor and human is to inspire people to go after their wildest "dreams," especially underrepresented youths. My quest for this role serves to do just that, especially for any young minds who are conditioned to think that they "can't do it". My parents emigrated from Ghana. I'm a first-generation American. I'm a computer engineer. And I really do have the chops and diligence to make this happen.

All I need is a chance. And that can be made exponentially more likely with a high-quality concept trailer. With your support, we can make this dream a not-so-distant reality and inspire millions!

About The Campaign

#ShotAtShock initially took form as a petition, started by Quentin Thomson, computer engineer turned actor, started in order to land an audition for his dream role as the titular character in Michael B. Jordan’s upcoming Static Shock film. He started this campaign because he didn't want the fact that he wasn't a "name actor" in Hollywood to stop him from getting a chance at his dream role, despite his experience/training, drive, and desire for this role. The petition aggregated over 1,100 signatures, generated international news coverage, and received a shout-out from New York Senator Phil Boyle!

What to Expect

The trailer, written by Quentin himself, highlights the origin story of Virgil Hawkins (AKA Static Shock) and his struggles as a young black teen who - all of the sudden - finds himself with newfound superpowers. The story will delve into the importance of doing what's right, morally, instead of what's good for one's self. It will also feature characters and plot points from the  original Static Shock cartoon.

The tone of the project will capture the feels of these awesome superhero films:

ShotAtShock isn't for just the superhero fans though. Whether you're a fan of underdog/inspirational stories, coming-of-age tales, feel-good stories, dramedies, or stories with positive black role models, this trailer will be for you! Ultimately, we believe the world needs more hope and dream-chasers; #ShotAtShock aims to fix this!

Why the Money? Where's it Going?

If I’m going to reach for the stars, I want to give it my 110% and ensure that the final product is guaranteed to catch the eyes of Michael B. Jordan and the Static Shock production team. 

Film production ain't cheap, unfortunately. The money will primarily go towards safely providing the crew (most of whom are volunteering their time, energy, and talents to support our goal) with the equipment, food, water, and transportation they need in order to optimize their generous efforts.

The money will also go towards VFX (visual effects), insurance, and booking locations - all of which are critical and can be very pricey.
