The app displays mock data until a headband unit is connected, so you are able to see the various plots and information which will be available to you.

While wearing the Sleep Shepherd Blue, EEG sensors monitor your brainwave activity. The unit plays two slightly different frequencies into each ear that correspond with the your current brainwave activity. The wavering pulse you perceive while wearing the Sleep Shepherd Blue is actually occurring inside your brain's auditory system in a part of the brain stem known as the medial superior olive (MSO). This effect is what naturally influences the rest of your brain to entrain to a sleepy state. 

Unlike simpler binaural beat apps, the Sleep Shepherd uses real-time brainwave data to precisely determine the frequency offset to play at any given moment. This ensures the wearer is always exposed to the most effective, customized binaural beats.
