Our project- "Small Hours Serenade"
Laura Heikkinen is an emerging playwright in Detroit, MI and Puzzle Piece Theatre is producing her first full length play, "Small Hours Serenade" in the Spring of 2014.
Laura's first play, "Chiseled" was selected for inclusion in Wayne State University's Louise-Heck Rabi One Act Festival in March of 2013.
Puzzle Piece Theatre's mission is to serve the community through storytelling that re-imagines what is possible in live performance. Debuting in February 2013 the company is quickly earning acclaim in the Detroit Arts Community.
Opportunities for early career playwrights are vital for the future of the American Theatre and Puzzle Piece Theatre is pleased to bring Laura's voice into the mix.
How we will use your donation
We have a budget of just under $5,000 for most of our productions. The goal of this campaign is to raise one-tenth of our budget, $500, to be used as operating capital to get this project off the ground.
While producing on a shoestring budget, we pay all of our actors and creative team a stipend for their work. Your donation will be applied towards those stipends. The other major expense we have with each production is the technical elements: set, lights, etc. A portion of the funds raised will be used to purchase materials to be used with our existing technical pieces.
In addition to the satisfaction of launching a world premiere play, we have many exciting ways to share our thanks. Take a look at our perks where you can receive: an autographed copy of the play, tickets to a performance, recognition as the primary underwriter, and more. We are thankful for any support you can provide.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you are excited about Laura's play and Puzzle Piece's work but unable to contribute financially please pass along our campaign. Through your word of mouth with social media we can expand our network of friends and continue to re-imagine what is possible in live performance.
