I've been blessed with a beautiful family. They mean the world to me. Right now, all of our family pictures are missing something. I don't smile. I never smile. I have very soft teeth, they fall apart and decay because I don't have the means to get them fixed. As of the last year I am unable to eat any sort of hard or crunchy foods. My health is regularly affected by abscessed gums and tooth roots.

I'm devastated by the fact that I can't even smile for my wife and children when they share good news and accomplishments with me. I'm more devastated by the emotional impact that my family feels when I can't show how proud I am of them. My family means the world to me.

For over 20 years I have tried to secretly deal with this issue, but it affects my family, my work and my social life. I'm unable to push myself to succeed in my career because I'm terrified to show my smile or to talk to people because I have such a terrible problem with my teeth.

I can't afford dental insurance, and even when I could I was rejected coverage because the extent of the work that needs to be done. Insurance companies will not pay because they consider the issue to be "cosmetic", but since when has being able to be healthy become a cosmetic issue?

Truth be told, I'm terrified of dentists, but I'm so disappointed in the fact that I have no pictures with my family  and that I can't smile for them that I need to do this.

The cost covers my dental work, support for my family while I'm down, and to help cover transportation costs.
