We have 5 days left in the campaign. We are now able to try for some of our stretch goals -- Most of them involve sending at least 2 key crew members to big festivals, so SOAR and the Academy of Art can be represented where it counts the most!

$16,000 -- SEND US TO SUNDANCE

At $16k, we will be represented at most reputable US festivals, like Sundance and Atlanta. We will also ramp up online promo and print T-shirts for the crew!

$18,000 -- PREMIERE VENUE + N. AMERICAN FESTIVALS

At $18k, we'll attend huge North American festivals, like the Toronto and Ottawa Film Festivals in Canada! We'll also rent a nice venue, like the Delancey Street Screening Room above, for our premiere in SF.

$23,000 -- SEND SOAR GLOBAL!

Yes $23k is a stretch, but with this amount, we can do a ton. We'll bring SOAR global to the BIGGEST festivals, like Cannes, Annecy, Berlin, Singapore -- and represent our entire crew + AAU there! Not to mention represent the US VFX industry, which needs a boost now more than ever.

SOAR is a 3D animated short film that began as a student thesis at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. It has now become one of the school's largest film collaborations, with close to 100 students and professionals contributing over the course of 2 years. It is written and directed by Alyce Tzue, with music by Jack Gravina, and produced by Anson Yu.

SOAR tells the fantastical tale of a young girl who befriends a tiny boy pilot who's dropped out of the sky. Through the course of a single day, she must find a way to fly her new friend back home before he is stranded on Earth forever.

So far, SOAR has been a non-profit work of love, with thousands of dollars spent out of pocket to get to where we are now. Our team members come from a variety of backgrounds, but we are mostly AAU students working for free, for both the experience of creating a film and for the love of the project. After seeing its potential, many professionals have joined us as well. Now as we are nearing post-production, we need your help bringing SOAR to life!

Your generous donations will help realize the later stages of production, post production, and our promotional effort.

Much of what is left to do, including late production and post production, involves bringing the film to the level it needs to be at for festival screenings and wider release. It has been our dream from the beginning to make SOAR into a top-notch, professional-feeling film, and your donation will help make that happen!

Music is an especially important part of post production. With a beautiful score by Jack Gravina, SOAR needs the help of live musicians to bring the music to life. Alyce and Jack met in middle school when they were already music aficionados (Okay, okay, more like band geeks!) Fifteen years later, it's only natural that they’re working on a film that places as much importance on the musical story as it does on the visual story. Think Fantasia!

Once SOAR is complete, we’d like to introduce it to the world the right way. Our goal is to submit SOAR to as many film festivals around the world as possible, which will require both submission fees and printed promotional materials.
