Hey, my name is Roland L Carter, II I am a Producer, Director, and Sometimes Writer born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. I had a really bad and I mean really bad break up. After the break up I made a lot of questionable choices, overworked myself, went to the gym, and watched Insecure and Atlanta A LOT. This led to me writing a show about my break-up and all the things I did. Instead of going to therapy first then start writing. After going to speak to someone it helps me change this show from a depressed man sitting in his self-pity. To a series that follows a man's growth to show that it's okay to take a soft route and heal and still be a man.

THE STORY

The show is called SOFt!!!!!!! A story that follows our Protagonists Russel Myers aka RUSS and his two friends DEXTER and KATRINA as they go through their late 20s in these Atlanta streets. They are trying to balance their work life, social life, and friendship with each other since they all share one house.

Like I said I first wrote this story after me and my ex broke up in 2023 to let out all of my feelings about the relationship, myself, and her. After a few rewrites with our lead writer and producer Devin Williams. The story turned into a whole series that made our team laugh, cry, and feel for our trio. Because we all can relate to something that they all are going through. Devin and I have planned 3 seasons of SOFT with 6 episodes for each season.

Season 1 focuses on Russ's journey to building himself up from the worst time of his life, Dexter is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his family so he can move forward in his career. Finally, Katrina is going to host her first art show she is struggling to find a solid investor. We chose to shoot the pilot episode Which is shy of 22 pages. Named: "Dear Me," This episode is the introduction to our trio and they get invited to an art show/housewarming party. Where our surprise is waiting for them.

Max Erin James is a Midwestern native with a passion in serving and giving a voice for the underrepresented, dedicated to crafting compelling narratives, demonstrating his deep love for storytelling to spark ideas and build meaningful connections with the audience.

Motivated by the belief that representation matters, Max Erin focuses on creating rich and diverse characters of color while crafting diverse worlds BIPOCs are seldom given an opportunity to be seen in. As a veteran, Afro-Latino queer writer, Max Erin implements life experience and cross-cultural understanding to deliver unique perspectives to push boundaries for thought-provoking and often chilling stories to resonate.

Max Erin has developed a fascination for thriller and horror, seeing it as a perfect way to incorporate real life concerns through surreal and stylized hyperbole to get across to the audience both the message and story of trying to make it through; especially with it being arguably the first genre to truly present social commentaries while still being the least respected genre by the majority. Inspired by visionaries such as Ryan Coogler and Nia DaCosta, Max Erin looks to push boundaries with impactful stories, putting diverse characters at the forefront in dynamic worlds, striving to leave a lasting impression.
