Overview
Get ready for the smallest, greenest, and most convenient e-vehicle ever invented! The Solowheel Iota will feature 8” wheels and will weigh only 8 lbs., making it easy to carry when you’re not able to ride it. We designed the Iota to be a hybrid idea between the original Solowheel and the Hovertrax hoverboard, making the device easy to learn and more versatile than the Hovertrax.

Introducing Solowheel Iota

A personal vehicle for the savvy 21st century commuter.

The Solowheel Iota is the smallest, greenest, most convenient e-vehicle ever invented. With 8" wheels and weighing as little as 8lbs, the Iota is a elegant device designed more for play than for transporation and is both versatile and easy to learn.

Iota in the Press

“Maybe the most impressive thing about the Iota is that, from the side, it’s pretty hard to see what the person is even using to get around.” Sean O'Kane, The Verge

“Shane Chen is back with his latest Kickstarter creation: The Solowheel Iota — and it looks like a winner.” Luke Dormehl, Digital Trends

“Iota is a like an hoverboard cut in half” Jayde Marvynne Zamora, Auto World News

Size Does Matter

The lightweight Iota is small enough to carry when not in use, but with the 1000W battery, it's also powerful enough to take you where you want to go. Perfect for "last mile" commuting, hanging around town, running quick errands, or just having fun.

Anytime, Anywhere

The built in flashlight allows you to see where you are going in low light areas and the water resistant casing allows you to ride through small puddles or while it's raining.

You're In Control

You can control how fast you travel by leaning forward on the foot pedals to go faster and leaning back to slow down or stop.

Let's Talk Power

Easily read the status of the battery and know when it's time to charge. Plus, the hidden charge port gives the Iota a more solid and sophisticated look.

The Two Wheel Design

The Iota uses two small wheels instead of one to better stabilize the rider without the use of leg supports and in order to stand alone. The patent-pending design includes a parallelogram-based turning assist mechanism which makes the Iota maneuverable and easy to use. In addition to an intelligent rider detection system, folding pedals, lights and a convenient carrying handle, the Iota will include Bluetooth capabilities with smartphone and watch apps coming soon. A suspension system is also in the works.

Our self-balancing technology is the best in the industry. We only use high-quality battery packs and motors as well as a full suite of electronic safety features giving the rider a gliding/flying free sort of feeling that enables you to move effortlessly and gracefully through the landscape.

Hoverboards and Segways are not good for transportation because of their wide footprint. You need to be constantly watching the path of the wheels on both sides of your feet. If you hit something you can make the vehicle spin, which could throw you off balance. The Iota eliminates these hazards. Because the wheels are between your feet, you only need to scan the road directly in front of you, making it genuinely useful and practical.

Why We Need Your Help

We currently have a working prototype and are focused on:

  • Finalizing the engineering schematics for the final product
  • Developing and iterating on the user experience for the mobile app
  • Developing the data visualization tools

We will soon begin the process of:

  • Designing packaging
  • Getting product certifications
  • UL, CE and other safety certificates
  • Tooling
  • Materials procurement
  • Production

We have been working on the Iota for the past year and we've come a long way. But now we need your help. Your support will allow us to initiate final design plans and manufacturing so we can make the Iota available to you and the millions of people who want to have fun with the latest and greatest gadget.

So why should you support us?

  • Be the first to get one (and we mean it).
  • The Iota will be the first of our products to be built in America and you want to support American jobs
  • You love green technology and environmentally friendly transportation
