Short Summary:

    ''Somewhere Something's Burning" is a dark drama film centered around a family who has recently lost their patriarch.  In this story we explore the family's daily struggles with grief during a harsh winter in the isolated countryside.  At its core this film is a story of grief, and as someone who has experienced grief personally, my desire with this film is not to entertain but to provide a rich and compelling narrative highlighting the complicated and devastating affects grief can have. Secondly, I desire to leave the audience knowing that even in the midst of our grief and isolation there is hope. 

Introductions:

    Hello everyone, my name is Graham Holt and I am the writer, producer, and co-director for "Somewhere Something's Burning". For the past four years I have been writing stories and studying the art of film. Last December I had the privilege of co-writing a script called "Shadows" which became the first film I have been able to be apart of. I designed sets, worked with actors, set up lights, recorded sound, and even got to play the monster in our film. It was a very fun and memorable experience. We made a lot of mistakes, but learned even more. I have written the full script for this current project and will have the honor of co-directing this very personal story of my own.

    Hello!  My name is Jerry Clark and I am a co-director as well as the director of photography and editor for "Somewhere, Something's Burning."  I have been creating my entire life and find that it is necessary to the well-being of my soul to create art. I have expressed this through many mediums and I have found that film is the best way to combine all of my passions.  I have been driven to pursue the film industry ever since childhood and when I could finally leave my small rural hometown, I dove in.  I have since worked on numerous major film and television sets including major motion pictures Pitch Perfect 2 and The Maze Runner.  I have worked in almost every area of production in film, stage, and music and I have worked with numerous big name acts.  After acting for a few years in New Orleans, I moved to Los Angeles to continue acting and also pursue dance.  I chose to move back to Louisiana in order to see what was possible for me to do with my experience and my own work.  I wanted to start from the bottom and create films that were real and personal to me and I strive for the creative control that is possible in independent film production.  I am currently pursuing a degree in Journalism and I currently have a minor in Theatre and both have greatly influenced my work and expanded my knowledge of the art.  I met Graham through mutual industry friends and immediately fell in love with his vision and desire to create.  I saw this as the mark of a true artist and decided that I would with him create our group, Pryzm Films.  This gave birth to the wonderful indie film projects that I am so blessed to be a part of.  

    Graham and I are a fantastic team.  His attention to detail, ingenious stories, and incredible imagery combined with my experience, out of the box thinking, stylized inspiration, and sheer dedication and drive make for a dynamic and powerful duo.  Shadows, our first short film was just to get us started.  This film is to take us to the next level.

What We Need

    To make this vision come to life we hope to raise $5,000 to ensure we are able to make the best film possible and to be able to pay our cast and crew for their vital role in this production. The funds will be used on lighting equipment, camera equipment, costumes, special fx, props, as well as to provide food and payment for our hardworking cast and crew. If we are unable to reach our full goal we will still make this film to the best of our abilities even if that means paying out of pocket to provide adequate compensation to our cast and crew. Needless to say every dollar we raise will be deeply appreciated and is greatly needed. 

Risks & Challenges

      The process of creating a film is monumentally challenging, obstacles are ever present and no amount of planning can fully prepare one for the complications that will undoubtedly arise. However, even in conflict we remain focused on our end goal and are determined to meet each challenge head on. We have already invested months in preparation, and have many more months of work ahead of us, but the importance of this film far outweighs the demanding work required of us.
