What is Squadron?
Squadron is a fan film set in the universe of Star Trek's 24th century. Even here in the Czech Republic we fans have dreamed of serving in Starfleet. We made this dream a reality by building a starship bridge along with a captain's ready room and filming our own exciting story. ViacomCBS, the owners of the Star Trek franchise, have issued a set of Guidelines for fans to follow should we wish to produce our own fan films and we intend to follow those rules. As such, when completed, Squadron will be released on-line in two parts of no more than 15 minutes each. When the movie is finished, it will be released via YouTube to be seen for free by all fans. And YES the movie will have english subtitles and if we reach our goal, there will be also an english voice over done by native speakers.
So what's this story about?
At the height of the Dominion War, a Starfleet captain is unexpectedly promoted to rear admiral and given the command of four Norway-class starships. This rear admiral and his squadron are sent to patrol a remote sector to deal with a possible Dominion incursion. Of course, the Dominion forces are exactly what our heroes encounter. And where you find the Dominion, you find trouble.
Why do we need your support?
Film-making is an expensive venture. Thus far we have shot all of our live-action footage, having funded everything up until now ourselves. This includes building the two standing sets themselves along with paying for the rental of the space for them. We also needed to rent gear, buy make-up, create alien prosthetics, props, etc. And now we are one final step away from the film's completion: creating believable space scenes.
Our biggest issue at the moment is CGI for Squadron, which takes an enormous amount of time and effort to create and requires CGI & 3D VFX specialists. Handling four Starfleet and a few Dominion ships fighting is not an easy task. This part of the film making process is nearly impossible to get for free with an effective level of quality. So far, we were able to prepare two very short space clips by ourselves, and you can see both of them in the trailer. But if we're going to be able to provide you with believable battle scenes in our movie, we need your help
See for yourself how much effort we've put into building our bridge and how amazing it is. Try our virtual 3D walkthrough of the bridge and the captain's ready room by clicking on the image below. In this walkthrough you can find additional information about the main characters and their mission.
Every dollar we raise in this campaign will go strictly to the coverage of production and post-production costs of Squadron. We won’t take any money for ourselves as payment for our time. We do everything for free in our own spare time. We consider this bridge that we’ve built as our investment to the project, and your money will be used only to enhance and improve this specific movie.
What's the production timeline?
Pre-production started in October 2018. The majority of the film was shot during 4 weekends in the spring of 2019, and since then, we have been in the post-production phase. The first trailer was released in November, and now we are working on the final cut and visual effects. We expect the movie to be released by the end of 2020.

Important notice
We are prohibited by the Star Trek Fan Film Guidelines to raise more than $50,000 for one movie. So anything we collect over this now unimaginable amount, we would use for pre-production of our next movie which is being produced in 2020 and we plan the release in early 2021.
We will not run any other campaign for this movie or sell any merchandise related to it. This movie will be accessible on a streaming service only. Supporters backing us with more than $50 will also be able to download the movie. This movie will not be distributed on any physical media.
Who are we?
We are Trekkies from the Czech Republic (Europe). We love Star Trek and also, we love making movies. In 2016 we finished building our own starship bridge set in a rented space. Since then, we’ve been writing stories and filming movies. But now comes the time to bring it all to you. Squadron is our dream project, which we’ve been making for the last two years. We tried to perfect the craft of filmmaking and storytelling in our previous projects, and now we think it is the right time to create something unique and special.
