When a middle-class teenage gamer is warped into a new reality, he must overcome a fierce opponent to return to the reality he once knew.
Stain is a light comedy/ action film that will hopefully bring light to a chore that everyone in the world does not like doing- the dishes! This film will touch on the theme of believing in yourself no matter how hard or impossible the situation you are faced with may be and also the fact that to overcome anything in life, sometimes you just need to leave your comfort zone. This light-hearted film will leave you pondering your own imaginative thoughts when doing the most mundane daily chores.
We hope you love this film concept as much as we do & would appreciate your support in helping bring this vision to life.

Chris, a charismatic, introverted teenager - just like any other night - is forced to do his family’s dishes. Everything is going smoothly until he encounters a dish with a near-impossible-to- remove stain. After many aggressive attempts to scrub the stain off, he is sucked into an alternate, animated “Olden Day Rome” reality where he must face his now-mortal enemy “Stain”. He must engage “Stain” in a fierce hand to hand battle to the death to return to his reality.

Hello everyone, my name is Austin Scott, and I am the writer/ director of the short film Stain. I cannot wait to bring this concept to life and share with you all this whacky, wonderful passion project of mine. The birth of this idea stemmed from the thought of bringing creativity to one of life's most mundane tasks - one that everyone is not a fan of doing - the dishes! Not only will it bring light to that chore it will also send a message I believe everybody can resonate with. The main theme this film will explore is believing in yourself no matter how hard any task at hand may present itself to be - something I have also personally faced & had to overcome throughout the pre-production phase of this film so far.
The thought of overcoming what seems like an impossible hurdle is one that everyone is so quick to think “I can’t do it”. In this case, Chris is faced with two choices - he can leave the dish to soak overnight as he normally would do, or he can face his challenges head on & defeat the nuisance of a stain & complete this dreaded chore for the night. Chris is completely out of his depth in the decision he makes. This reinforces the idea that if you just take that bet on yourself and believe you can do whatever it is you set your mind to (even if you are completely unsure of yourself), then you can provide may just surprise yourself & others around you.

I wanted to create a film that sends a message to people who may be struggling with the same thing I struggle with in my day-to-day life and that is lack of confidence and self-belief. I love the thought of showing others that anything is possible to achieve if you just take a chance on yourself and embrace the thought of “I can do it”. There’s something so beautiful about inner belief that if I hadn’t done with the making of this film, I’d be in the same place I was before I embarked on this journey. I believe this film will inspire people to get out of their comfort zone and take on life and they have been putting off for so long.
This is alike my journey with filmmaking- I always thought the finished product was so far out of reach and that I wouldn't have what it takes to execute an entire film production from conceptualisation to execution. Upon some serious self-reflection I thought to myself “WHY NOT?”. All these other filmmakers & friends I look up to who have inspired me to chase this dream had to have been in the same mindset I was one day and they took a chance on themselves and pursued their dreams, so why can't I?
This has inspired me to push through & am take a chance on myself & my creative ability that I hope brings joy to the lives of many. I hope too that this inspires YOU to take that chance on yourself - no dream is too big, you just need to start.
