Our Story
My name is Corinne Cavallaro and together with a number of truly creative and inspirational people I am making a film. I currently work in the film industry and have co-produced a short film that appeared at the Cannes Short Film Corner Festival as won the Aloha Accolade Award at the Honolulu IFF.
"Star" is the story about the impact stardom has on a young woman once she signs her life away to a talent agency. It pays homage to great storytellers like Alfred Hitchcock and David Lynch as well as to stars who have passed like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Natalie Wood. It is a psychological thriller dealing with the undercurrent of the dark desires of Hollywood fame.
Shooting will begin in the spring around April/ May.
The money raised will go to the costs of filmmaking such as insurance, sound, lighting and in the end, the costs of entering the film into national and international film festivals.
The Impact
I have been wanting to tell this story for years. Working in Hollywood at the beginning of my career, I feel that the undercurrent of this world, although dramatized in "Star" is a tale worth telling.
In addition, the cast is primarily female as I believe it is crucial for women to take a larger stand in the industry.
What We Need & What You Get
I am projecting a goal of $5000 to complete this film. Any funding not received will come out of my own pocket so your help is crucial. As stated above, the funding will be put directly toward the cost of filmmaking. The last independent film I worked on cost $10000 and I am confident that I can budget the funds to make every penny count (for less!) The crew and actors will be working for free but I will need to cover the insurance, equipment and rentals cost.
