Stash is a Reddit app that intelligently syncs posts whilst your phone is on WiFi, so you can browse on the go without using any mobile data. Content including videos, images and gifs will load instantaneously.

Stash lets you set how much bandwidth and storage you'd like it to use. You can set it to sync automatically while you sleep or while you're at work, so when you get on the bus or subway, the latest posts are right there with you.

The data problem
Does your carrier charge exorbitant fees for your monthly mobile data? Do you only get 2 or 3 gigabytes per month and find yourself having to be super careful with how you use Reddit when you’re out and about? Do you have a poor internet connection on your daily commute and just wish there was a way for you to watch all the videos and gifs that you want, without worrying about data usage or waiting for it to buffer?
Introducing Stash
![]()
How it works
Stash detects when you are in WiFi and automatically downloads a preset amount of Reddit content including videos, gifs, images and text posts. When you’re out of any WiFi zone, Stash will provide you with access to the downloaded content and will not use any mobile data. Since the content is preloaded, you can view it instantly.
Stash will continually update the content on your device at a preset frequency and automatically remove old content.

The Story
This project began as an Unpossibly challenge, where a team of 25 strangers came together to solve a challenge they were passionate about: Giving people a way to browse the internet without being connected to the internet. The team was given a tight deadline of 12 days to come up with a solution. The team worked hard, and came up with a simple yet brilliant solution of background data syncing while on wifi and allowing the user to view offline later.
The build team of 6 below, from all over the globe, came together to turn it into a reality, starting with their favourite app - Reddit.

What you see here is a world first, internet only international team of passionate, smart people working together to solve a challenge. Please show your support by backing and sharing so we can build Stash for iOS, eventually for other types of content and different challenges. The team will receive the funds from the Indiegogo campaign to provide them with the necessary revenue to build the final iOS and Android versions of Stash.

Risks & Challenges
Play / App store approval
As with any pioneering app, our success relies on getting approval from the distributors, although with the teams’ years of industry experience we’re confident any issues that crop up during submission of the app will be easily resolved
Data management & device testing
Since there are lots of different devices, it will be difficult for us to know in advance the minor bugs that may appear, but rest assured by having private chat channel access to our development team, you'll be able to report any issues or bugs directly and immediately to the team!
FAQs
How will I receive my perk?
Once the application is live on the Google Play store, you’ll be able to download it. When you get into the app, click on Indiegogo Backers, enter your Indiegogo email address and hit confirm to activate your perk reward.
When will it be ready?
The Android version will be ready on the 16th of March 2017, and if we reach our stretch goal of $10,000 USD, the iOS version will be ready on the 16 of June 2017!
Will you be continuing to update the app after launch?
Yes, Stash is our pride and joy, we have big dreams for what it can become in the future and we'd love to hear your feedback as to what kind of features you guys want!
Does Stash also work for Youtube Videos?
Yes, Stash works with Youtube Videos.
Doesn't that violate Youtube's Terms of Service?
No. We've figured out a way to cache the videos without violating Youtube's Terms of Service, and that's the magic of Stash!
Will I be able to pick which subreddits to sync?
Yes, you can tell Stash which subs to sync. By default Stash will simply sync the front page.
Can I use Stash as a normal Reddit app as well?
Of course! The app will work seamlessly between online and offline. The goal is for you to only have one main Reddit app that you use, rather than be forced to switch between apps.
If I love Reddit, will I love Stash?
Um, yes.
