The team behind Stay Awake are a diverse group of people from all over the world, who share a common understanding of filmmaking as a tool for entertainment but also as a way to create work that affects audience behaviour.
We are creating a short film, which digs into the psychology of its main character: Alice.
We are highlighting the important issue of gaslighting and using the horror/thriller genre to present it.

Las pesadillas de Alice se apoderan de su vida y de sus relaciones. La situación empeora cuando la línea entre la realidad y su subconsciente se difumina, revelando una cruel realidad. Este corto ilumina la dinámica del poder y el abuso en las relaciones y aborda el incómodo tema de la gaslighting (diferentes manifestaciones de abuso doméstico).

To successfully complete this film we need to raise £3,500.
The majority of the money is going on cast and crew travel, equipment, special effects and paying our actors. No head of department is getting paid for work or expenses and we are all putting our own money into this project.

Caitlin our editor and co-writer hails from Carlops in the Scottish Borders and is co-founder of Delves into Hollis, a platform for emerging artists. With a degree in Time Based and Digital Art from Dundee College of Art, Caitlin wants to create projects that show new ways of representing women and their lives.

Juan is our director and co-writer, born in Colombia and raised in Spain. Juan has been working and studying in England and Australia for the past couple of years and now lives in Scotland.
Juan combined his media studies degree with a Masters in Feminism, Gender and Citizenship Studies so he could infuse this point of view into his work.
