The Short Version
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! YOU are the kind of person who helps bring dreams to fruition - SERIOUSLY! My name is Stephanie Hatfield and I’m an indie folk-rock musician and songwriter from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Originally from the Detroit area, my style and sound include not only the grit of my homeland, but my Kentucky hillbilly heritage and the expansiveness of the mountainous southwest that I have called home for the last 20 years.
Our debut album, Stephanie Hatfield and Hot Mess, was funded by a very generous donor to the tune of $15,000 and amassed us a great deal of attention in New Mexico and the surrounding states. Since then, we have been fortunate enough to record and release another 2 studio albums and 1 live album, all self-funded. While we have been very proud of what we have been able to accomplish on our own, there is so much more that we hope to do, particularly with these new songs that seem to be gushing out this year.
We are in the process of producing and recording these songs for our fourth studio album and we need your help to bring it to life and most importantly, send it out into the world! We're so excited to share these new songs with you, and your contributions are key to making this happen. As you may have gathered, creating an album is very expensive but for us, it is also an intensive labor of love. With your pledges, we’ll be able to: add some of the most talented musicians in the southwest to join us, mix and master the project, design and press the album, hire a promotion team to release it (THIS IS KEY), and celebrate your contributions and support with merchandise and perks that are exclusive to you!

The Plan
As independent artists (which is most of us these days), there are no labels or investors tripping over themselves to support the production of an album, let alone promote it. Personally, I’ve always been a DIY kind of woman, thanks to my eclectic, semi homesteading upbringing so I’m typically the first to jump in and figure it out on my own. Over the years though, I’ve learned that there are some things I simply cannot do and people I cannot reach without help. Funding the release and promotion of this album is one such arena, so that’s where you come in! I’ve always believed that it takes a village and have often times been fortunate enough to be able to contribute to the people and projects that I believe in. So now it’s my turn to ask you, my community of friends, fans and family to step up, lean in, and show support in order for this music to come to life and be heard beyond our beautiful community and region.
I’ll be co-producing the album with my husband, Bill Palmer, the award-winning producer and engineer behind 15 years of fantastic and diverse albums recorded at the once infamous Frogville Studio. Noah Baumeister and Matthew Tobias will join Bill and I along with a fine collection of guest musicians (Ocean Summer, Caitlin Alexander, Jon Graboff of Ryan Adams & the Cardinals and Eliza Lutz of Matron Records to name a few) from our lovely state of New Mexico and beyond. Brian Lucey of Magic Gardening Mastering in LA (6 Grammy Award winning albums under his belt) will put his expert touch on the mixes. I’m planning to release the first single in February 2019 but many perks include previews and downloads much earlier than the official release date. The album will be released in Spring of 2019, including a launch effort to indie stations, press and promotors in the US, UK and Europe.
The Songs
Most of you know me and if you’ve ever heard me perform, you know it comes straight from my soul, unfettered, unfiltered and as raw as the emotions that created the song in the first place. This is my core and I live to share it. Truly. Have you ever dreamed of flying? If so, you know that feeling. That moment when I’m pouring my soul out either in the studio or on stage, that’s what it feels like. Total, absolute, undeniable freedom.
The Money
We are looking to raise $15,000 to complete and promote this project. To realize our ultimate vision (which includes hiring a videographer to create music videos and a publicity team for the album release), I need $20,000. For more details on the budget, scroll below to my pretty little pie chart. Money will go towards musician fees, recording, mastering, T-shirt’s & unique merchandise, printing CDs, album artwork, photos and graphic design, and a promotion team to help release this CD beyond our beautiful bubble.

Rewards for you!
You will actually be rewarded for your contributions to our campaign! Depending on the amount you choose to give, the rewards vary from downloads of the new album, to complete packages including passes to a Pre-Release CD Listening Party, OR a fully funded house concert! It’s up to you to decide what your mighty dollar is worth to you, and we offer up a plethora of choices in how to ‘spend’ that contribution.
If we don’t happen to reach our goal of $15,000, the money that IS raised below the goal will be used toward the production of the album. The remainder will come out of pocket over time. The rewards that have been promised, however, will still be distributed once the album is finished. But we want to do more, so much more with this culmination of 10 years of creating, rehearsing, performing and writing, so please, consider giving what you can and our appreciation will literally be tangible!

If it's not possible to financially contribute towards our campaign, it's cool, we get it! That being said, there are some things you can do that would make a huge difference and don't cost a thing.
