No one thinks Jay Prakash deserves a second chance. After serving time for drug-trafficking, the only job he can get is a minimum wage position at a grocery store. Jay hopes to work his way up the ladder until he discovers that his grocery manager is plotting his own criminal escapades.
Stock Boy is a comedic satire about redemption and hypocrisy.
I wrote this script based on my family’s experiences running a small food company in Toronto. The grocery business is a cutthroat world filled with petty feuds and eccentric characters.
With your support we can make this darkly absurd script into an amazing film. And when you join the team, be sure to snag some delicious perks:

Yup, we put a camera on a shopping cart. Filmmaking isn't cheap. That's why we need your support. We are scheduled to shoot in early October. That means we've seriously crunched the numbers to find the smallest budget we need to bring this script to life.

Your contribution will be put to work in these crucial areas:
- Location Permits
- Professional Actors
- Crew Labor
- Film Equipment (Lights, Sound, a non-shopping cart dolly, etc..)
- Art Direction (Props and Wardrobe)
- Transportation and Food

The story of Gourmantra began when my sister promised her friends a homemade Indian feast. The only problem was that she didn't know how to cook. My mom stepped in, but instead of cooking for her she created a care packet (spices, rice, tomato puree, ginger and garlic) with simple instructions. The meal was a hit and Gourmantra was born.
Gourmantra quickly it made it's way onto the shelves of grocery stores like Whole Foods. But after years of ups and downs, my mom and sisters had to suspend the company. Fortunately the "Spice Girls" are working hard to get Gourmantra back up running. When you support Stock Boy, you're also supporting these three very amazing women and their delicious recipes.

When I was in grade school, one person said I smelled like curry and was dirty. The next day, everyone believed it. The type of racism I experienced was re-enforced by movies and TV where South Asians were absent or relegated to stereotypes and side characters.
It's time to change that. It's time to change our popular culture and introduce multi-dimensional protagonists that shape the way people perceive us. We need to take more control of our entertainment and ask for new exciting stories. As a filmmaker, I intend to keep that idea at the forefront of my work.
