Help us raise £7000 to make this ambitious indie film a reality

We've assembled a hugely talented team of cast and crew. Every stage of the production process has been meticulously planned, along with the script, to be achievable on a micro budget. We are based in the South West (UK) and plan to film in Bristol, Cardiff, Wiltshire, Devon and the surrounding countryside and coast lines. Our plan is to start shooting this summer and wrap in October, with the films release planned for mid 2018. We believe we have an exciting, original story, that has been years in the making and deserves to be seen by everyone. We need  your help to make our film a reality!

Our Stories

I have been writing the script and working on getting Subverted into production for the last 2 years. It really is the result of a lifetime spent learning my craft. I'm incredibly excited to share this story with the world. This will be my second time directing a feature film but my very first time being the writer as well.

I got involved on Subverted after I saw Mark's previous work and his clear passion for this project. As producer, I'm overseeing the project in its entirety - working with Mark to secure locations, cast, equipment and anything else this film might need to look its best. I think this film represents an interesting take on the genre and I'm very much looking forward to its production.

I love the concept, the idea... you never really know who these characters are. You know to an extent who Jacob is. It has that feel of Hamlet around it, where he is at turmoil with his inner self, his voice, his own paranoia. My character, Rupert, is the one who brings order and stability, the one who is there, who seemingly is the rock part of Jacob, that makes Jacob not tip over the edge and yet... How I got involved? Well I worked with Mark on another project and loved his passion and his ideas... Finding we had a lot in common, love his creativity. So when he showed me the script I couldn't really say no.

I worked with Mark on his first comedy feature film and he came to me to play one of the leads for his new film. I'm excited to play the part as it will require a different set of skills. I will also be writing the musical score for this film as I did for the last one.

Me and Mark did a porno together in the 70's, crazy days. Then we dabbled in bootleg VHS for a while... But ultimately my biggest success came when he did a documentary on me called "Day We Changed The World". Mark can create magic on a budget. I've tasted it!

Mark and I have been working on creative projects together for a long time now. I run a clothing company & will be supplying costume for several characters and extras. I also have a collection of vintage clothing that we'll be using. I'm really excited to be a part of making this film.

I am an Art Director that graduated from PCA back in 2015, I have been making films since 2009. I primarily enjoy coming up with visual ideas and concepts for films. For Subverted I will be overseeing Props, Costume, Make Up and all aspects of the Art Department.

I’m a sound recordist and sound editor, graduated in MA Film and TV Production in 2011. I had the pleasure to work with Mark last year on a short film and it was great fun. I really look forward to working in the sound department for Subverted.

I met Mark after having read his script and discussed a few little things about the film. I love the psychology, reactivity and, simply put, the cinematic possibilities in certain scenes, so was definitely interested in working with him. I love psychology, existentialism, David Lynch, Tarkovsky and many New Wave and art house films, and... trying everything.

The Storyline

Act 1 - We meet Jacob, being interviewed in an interrogation room, who begins to tell a story about his best friend, a free spirited drop out who refuses to be labelled with a name. Jacob follows his nameless friend into an underworld of hedonistic parties and drug dealing ways. This unsustainable life style soon falls apart when they are caught and loose their stash to a nightclub bouncer. How on earth will they pay back the debt they now owe their supplier?

Act 2 - Enter Rupert, Jacobs mentor and long time confidant. Rupert tries to talk to Jacobs supplier, a dangerous gangster known only as The Man, who just happens to be Rupert's estranged younger brother. They meet and make a deal but it all goes sour. Rupert ends up taking his brothers life when he learns what he really had planned for his young friend Jacob.

Act 3 - Jacob and his nameless friend find themselves on a cliff top with Rupert who explains what he has done. During an argument both of Jacobs accomplices conveniently disappear. Jacob is left alone on the cliff top. Apparently Rupert and his nameless friend have both fallen over the edge in a struggle - but the story thickens as the other surviving characters in the film give us their version of events. What really happened?

Making a film is no easy thing. Making a film for £7,000 would seem nearly impossible... But it's not. In fact some of our team have already proved this by making a feature film with a lot less money. This film is a much bigger undertaking. We've assembled a vastly talented, top notch Cast and Crew. Now we need your help to get this great indie film into production. What ever we manage to raise this film is getting made. 7K is just a figure that we feel comfortable achieving exactly what we are going for on a micro budget feature. It would be great to raise more and be able to put more money on the screen and up our production values. We're sure that with your help we can.
