What is SuperGame!?
SuperGame!
is an interactive art installation designed by Baltimore-based artists Scott Pennington and Adam Franchino. SuperGame! is a central hexagonal structure and cantilevered canopy structure which is home to five carnival inspired
games, and will be featured as a part of "Field Day" on Charles St. for Baltimore's Artscape 2014 from July 18th-20th.
SuperGame! will be free for all attending Artscape to play. Each game will award hand stamps to those who prove themselves worthy on the playfield! Collect them all to become a Supergame! Champion! The games featured will be classic carnival games... with a twist.
Some game examples are:
- Political Punk Rack- Throw shoes at politicians, with no legal consequences!
- Black Hole Corn Hole - Send obsolete satellites through a rotating black hole to destroy the possibly peaceful, probably invading aliens.
- World Destruction Ring Toss - The world is facing it's final moments. How many puppies can you save?
- Battleship Duck Pond - Pick a duck, from a battleship!

Early conceptual rendering of Supergame!
We
are grateful to have received partial funding from Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts which has allowed us to fabricate the base structure and the games. Our goal through this campaign is to raise funds in order to make SuperGame! truly super.
With
your contribution we will be able to afford additional lighting to keep the games going after dark, audio equipment for our carny barker M.C.s, a rigorously curated SuperGame! music playlist, enhanced sound effects, plus additional details that are essential to Supergame!'s carnival aesthetic.

Scott and Adam !
Team SuperGame!
Scott Pennington is a Baltimore based artist and woodworker, Artscape
2014 will be the third Artscape that he has been a part
of. In 2008 Scott collaborated with Paige Shuttleworth and a wide array of contributors to create The Interstellar Species Survey: A giant spacecraft inhabited by 8 fabulously costumed aliens that performed various tests on festival goers. In 2010 Scott presented Pink and Blue Dilemma: The Foam Incident. In this (ongoing) large-scale interactive installation, performers attempt to manage foam flowing from an industrial structure (as if it were toxic waste) while festival goers frolic and enjoy the foam. Both projects can be seen here: http://www.scottpenningtonart.com/
Adam
Franchino has shown his artwork at Artscape once before, in 2010 showing his Auduino Ant Farm, a synthesizer that translated ant movement into noise, as part of Betascape. His first large interactive installation was Locale Unlimited, a collaboration with Jeremy Stern, in which Adam controlled lights shooting through starscapes hand cut in large paper by Jeremy.
SuperGame!
Would not be possible without the network of Baltimore artists who are volunteering their skills and time to help make this
large scale project possible. We are fortunate to have such an enthusiastic community of creative people contributing to aspects of SuperGame! such as construction, painting and sewing of game components, sign making, light animations, sound production, game operation during the festival, and of course, an endless supply of moral support.
