Short Summary

The South Whidbey Commons is a community-powered, youth-driven, family-friendly nonprofit that works to strengthen our community by creating opportunities for people of all ages to gather, learn, and grow.

AmeriCorps members area a vital and integral part of the Commons experience and help administer its rigorous workplace training program. They recruit, train, mentor, and supervise workplace training participants and also plan and implement programs.

Most of the people AmeriCorps members work with are middle and high school students, and the impact they have can be life-long.

What We Need & What You Get

The Washington Service Corps (WSC) works with nonprofit organizations and local governments to address a variety of unmet and pressing community needs. WSC helps Washington’s citizens meet those needs by supplying AmeriCorps members who volunteer to serve, contributing their passion, commitment, hard work, and skills.

AmeriCorps members receive a small stipend, half of which comes from federal funding provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The other half comes from the South Whidbey Commons. This one-time lump-sum payment of $9,000 is due on September 1, and is the biggest bill the Commons pays all year.

The money you donate will go directly toward the stipend that AmeriCorps members receive and will ensure that the atmosphere and service you've come to know and love at the Commons continue.

Other Ways You Can Help
