Short Summary
The International Network for Research in Arts Education (INRAE) is committed to a vision of education in which the arts play a central and critically important role.
Our research has shown that:
The arts in education can
be used to construct knowledge in other domains of learning;
The arts can promote
embodied learning;·
The arts can effect
significant transformation in a young person’s life;
Arts education can
positively impact personal wellbeing;
The arts are a powerful
venue in which young people can construct and maintain identity;
Arts education has
potential to facilitate social cohesion and community building;
Arts education can
contribute to the goals of multiculturalism.
Since 2009 we have supported research in arts education by holding 6 international conferences and publishing 3 highly acclaimed Yearbooks. We are now ready to produce our 4th Yearbook featuring important studies from around the world. All we need is funding to cover the basic cost of publication. We invite you to help us to achieve this goal.
What We Need & What You Get
We need 5000 Euros to cover the cost of publication for the 2016 edition of the INRAE Yearbook and to meet the related demands of this fundraising campaign.
We will proudly acknowledge your donation by publicly recognizing you in the 2016 Yearbook and on our website. We will be very grateful for all donations ranging from 10 Euros (Friend) to 500 Euros (Champion) and beyond. In addition, for every donation of 50 Euros or more, it will give us great pleasure to send you a copy of the 2016 International Yearbook for Research in Arts Education, as soon as it is published! If you make multiple donations of 50 Euros or more, we will send you multiple copies of the Yearbook!
Impact
This is the first time that we are raising funds for the |INRAE Yearbook through crowdfunding and we are very excited about the possibility of using this platform to enable us to publish research in our field.
Why is research in arts education so important? Because without solid research, educational authorities who are committed to evidence based decision making will find it difficult to commit valuable resources to learning in the arts. Because improving quality in arts education requires in-depth study of the practice of exemplary teachers. Because only through research will we know where the arts are being taught in the world, by whom, and with what resources. Because all young people have a right to explore their cultural heritage and to exercise their creativity. Research has a major role to play in making high quality arts education accessible to all children and youth.
Risks & Challenges
The articles have been written. The editing is well underway. The Yearbook will be ready for the publisher very soon. So, the only risk is that we may not reach our fundraising goal. If this should happen, we will make every effort to find other ways to supplement your donations so that the Yearbook can see the light of day. We have succeeded in publishing 3 previous Yearbooks, so we are confident that, with your backing, we will succeed again, this time.
