Short Summary
Vroom Vroom! Hello, we are Golden Diversity, an all girls team of five students from Queechy High School in Tasmania, competing in the F1 in School Technology Challenge. We worked hard and won our category in the state finals, landing us a spot in the National Finals.
As an F1 team, we believe we are pretty unique: five culturally diverse girls in a very male dominated field. But you know what? We don't want to be unique. We want to be one of a massive number of girls and women from all walks of life participating in STEM careers. We want to be leaders for other girls, and be the visibility and success stories that they can look to for inspiration.
To get to the national finals, it will cost us around $10 000 to cover the costs of accommodation, flights, food and transport, as well as our uniforms, creating the booth and making our F1 model car. We are very passionate about getting there and hopefully winning, proving to everyone that girls in STEM can race and win - against any competition.
We also want to show the world that being culturally diverse has no effect on how successful you are, No matter where you are from, or what religion you believe in or what your traditions you have, you can still achieve anything if you work hard enough, maintain your integrity and authenticity and are simply nice peeps.
There are many challenges that we have to overcome, one being tying to convince people that just because we are girls, doesn't mean that we are any less capable than the boys. Another challenge we have is trying to reach our goal, of being able to afford to get to the national finals, as there are huge expenses for our families.
We appreciate any support that we can get, not only the money donations, but the shares, the Facebook likes and just spreading the word about our team and the cause that we are trying to raise awareness for. We ask you to come with us on the journey as we race for F1 gold and stand on that podium for girls everywhere.
