The Women's Global Empowerment Initiative (WGEI) is preparing to implement our first global exchange program this July in Agadir, Morocco. Our goal is to take 8 high school students from Atlanta, Louisville, and New Orleans to the southern Moroccan city for three weeks.  During this trip, these young women will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and excursions related to environmental issues, sustainable development, and gender-rights activism.  Students will also take Arabic language classes and stay with host families.

The estimated cost per student for this program is $4,000. While students and their families are responsible for independently fundraising $1,500 of that cost, we as an organization are working to raise the remaining $20,000 by June 31st.

Given the life-changing power of foreign exchange and the professional edge of bilingualism in our globalized world, it is very important that this group of young women have access to this opportunity. The communities from which our students come are often very underrepresented in study abroad.  The students that we have chosen for this program have the potential to be future leaders and activists on the world's most pressing issues.  This educational opportunity is thus not only key to their futures, but to all of ours as well.

Since our organization is a registered nonprofit, your contribution is tax-deductible.

Any donation you can make to this campaign, no matter how seemingly small, will be greatly appreciated. Because our host-partner Dar Si Hmad is also a nonprofit organization, not only does your money go to the student's academic program, but it also contributes to development initiatives in Morocco that focus on environmental education and gender empowerment.

Thank you for your time and consideration and we hope you decide to take part in bringing this vision to life.

Sincerely,

Your community partners at WGEI
