Short Summary
I am not a sane or mundane person by any means. My soul gravitates toward callings that would amuse others. I feel true freedom and inspiration through expression and I have never loved or respected anyone as much as my mother and her power. She is true magic to me, and not the kind that everyone says about their mom, I mean the spirit she allowed me to be, the preparation she gave in the fourteen years of my life she shared with me, it has led me on this grander, impossible life. One where I can't live without the purifying force of performance and storytelling.
I am now at a point in my life where it is time to put my stories, profound questions, and passion together. I will be doing just that in Champagne, France this time next year. I have been accepted to the most beautiful artist residency in the world. (Their words, not mine!)
What We Need & What You Get
In the eight months I have been campaigning, through live concerts and crowdfunding alone, we have raised 3,330.61 USD. We need 4500.00 USD for tuition and 3500.00 USD for the travel expenses to get to and from France. Our total goal is 8000 USD to raise for my Chateau Orquevaux Artist Residency 2025.
This residency has an 18 percent acceptance rate. I was accepted based on my proposal and my artist background. I was awarded the Denis Diderot Grant and the Emerging Artist Scholarship by the Chateau. While this covered over 3000.00 EU of the tuition expenses, we still have the 4500.00 USD balance to complete by Christmas.
Our travel expenses are aiming to be finalized by February 2025.
When we have raised all the funds for our goal, we will have a ceremonious entertainment experience for the supporters to share in this milestone we will forever share.
The Impact
This time in the country in France, in the historic Chateau Orquevaux, will put me in the pinnacle of my creative career. I am looking to construct a weighted quilt of information, art, and theatre in a body of work centered around the issues plaguing humanity from the lens of a generation kaleidoscopic in identity, the lens of feminity abandoned, calamity and v to cultivaictory and sensory experience. I have dreamed of an opportunity like this opportunity to be off the grid, dejected from the distractions of the contemporary world to craft this work, solely to give to the world, sure, but to the thinkers and the renaissance to provoke thought as my contribution to bringing understanding to some of our lives as we seek oasis in this convoluted fast-paced life.
