Summary
The NYU Voice Center is a world leader in patient care, education, and research regarding disorders of voice, swallowing, and airway disorders. In this collaboration with our friends at Fit for Broadway, we seek to empower singers to see themselves as vocal athletes, and ultimately, destigmatize vocal recovery. Many singers experience shame or guilt due to injury, or simply symptoms of overuse due to strenuous vocal demand.
Through this collaboration, we are thrilled to offer a limited edition “I’m on Vocal Rest” shirt created by Fit for Broadway Apparel to support this initiative. Your donation will support the research efforts at the NYU Voice Center, and you get a cool shirt supporting the mission!
What You Get
Patients frequently ask how they can help support the work of investigators at the NYU Voice Center. In collaboration with our friends at Fit for Broadway, we now offer, "I'm on Vocal Rest” shirts. This message is intended to show your support for the Center as well as the expand the initiative for vocal muscle recovery. In addition, our collaboration mission is intended to reduce the stigma associated with voice disorders, injury or recovery. Can you imagine if a hockey player broke his nose on the rink and was then ashamed to see a doctor? Why should this be the case for vocal athletes?
The Impact
Did you know that cricothyroid approach to in-office vocal fold injection augmentation was first described by Dr. Milan Amin, the Director of the NYU Voice Center. The Center has a long history of innovation and the development of novel approaches to challenging disorders.
In addition to clinical research, laboratories led by Drs. Ryan Branski and Aaron Johnson serve as incubators for scientific discovery with the ultimate goal of translating laboratory findings to patient care.
Your support will directly enhance these efforts. Funds generated by this campaign will be directed to our research initiatives.
