Farm
Uncle Bubba's Farm is a new and small farm located near
Utica, Mississippi. It is operated by me (Claire) and my husband Mark with our
two children Chloe and Wayne. We believe that raising, growing, and eating
healthy food will keep our body and environment healthy.
My husband has more than 30 years of experience in
electronics engineering; commercial and residential architecture; fluid
mechanics; solar electric and thermal engineering.
I’m from Philippines and grew-up spending time on
grandparent’s farm. I have some knowledge of basic farming and simple living.
We need your support to build a farm where we want to live
and where we can share with our neighbors, friends and our community to help
them learn how to live sustainably and healthy. This will become a model farm
to enables children, students, farmers alike to learn and get ideas to help
them live a healthier life by raising and growing their own food, or starting
their own small farm.
Why support build
small-scale farm?
Small-scale farming is in danger of extinction due to large
farm corporations that are controlling our food. These large corporations are
degrading the fertility of our soils by using mono-crop.
Enables people to easy access on nutritious and high-quality
produce, yet, affordable.
People within a community should know their farmers; see and
learn how their food is grown and become closer to nature.
It helps preserve the traditional/sustainable way of
farming; thus, promotes living sustainably and becoming more self-reliant.
Helps reduce waste, reduces pollution and takes better care of
our Earth, the planet where we live.
Our goal is $100,000. In exchange with your support
we will provide one or more of the following:
Nutritious food raised and grown on our farm
Farm tour/stay - after our tiny off the grid home
construction is complete.
Have the privilege to fish at the lake for a specified
period of time.
Share our knowledge/ideas for starting and maintaining a small
farm for living sustainably.
Help you design and build an off the grid home solar
electric and solar thermal system.
Share our knowledge and ideas learned through years of
research and practical experience.
Your support enables
the following below; it is in a priority order:
1.) Farm animals and their barns - each breed of chickens
and other farm animals will have their own barn
2.) Planting materials; fruit trees and perennial
vegetables
3.) Root cellar - for storing produce
4.) Bees and beekeeping materials
5.) Mushroom(s) building
6.) Earthworm barn - for making our own natural
fertilizer
7.) Education center/small building - where we can teach and
share our knowledge/ideas about growing their own food and living sustainably
8.) Off the grid tiny house - where visitor can stay, 1-2
adult and 1-2 children at a time
9.) Fishing boat - for visitors that like to fish
10. Smokehouse
